Wax Jacket Villa's history is significantly bigger and better than Sunderland's

I know but cmonurz says that "Villa are a 'bigger club' in terms of potential" - i wouldn't quite agree with that.....Steve Bruce is doing a decent job at Sunderland and they have a fantastic home record - they have the backing of the board to sign players and if they get into Europe there is no reason why they can't do exactly what Spurs have done these past couple of seasons. Villa look 'hurt' since O'Neil left and when they lose the likes of Downing and Young (who will both want to be pushing for an England place, so join a top 4 club) - then they wont be doing much for a few years.

comeonruz is a bit confused though. He doesn't know whether he supports the murderers or Reading.

Villa were exactly where Sunderland are now for the last 3(?) seasons.

point being?

we're talking about future potential..........Sunderland look like a team on the up whilst Villa look a shadow of their former self.

Rather than to Chelsea.
What does that say about the two clubs?
Maybe one is on the up and the other is on the way down.

cmonurz the signing of Bent a very decent start, he'll score 10-15 goals before the end of the season.

If I were still a betting man I'd take you on on that one.

Still don't get you.....this season Sunderland are proving they are on the up and looking a decent young side whereas Villa have lost the main thing that got them into Europe the past few seasons (their manager). They wont do much this season now and their best players will be snapped up by the likes of Spurs, Man City, Chelsea etc in the summer, leaving them to re-build again.....hence the future potential sits more with Sunderland, than it does Villa.

Two clubs battling it out to get through to the qualifying round of the European Champs League by finishing 4th in The Premier League.

Only within the next 6 months though, really.

It does seem that the potential argument is somewhat pointless because he appears to be moving for a) money and b) getting away from the north west.

£18 million for the most average player in the Premiership, the only thing more laughable than the fee is this press conference! Houllier makes David Brent look like Winston Churchill.

papereyes - Man, I knew you Tories regarded the North as one great, indistinguishable mess of funny accents and poverty...

Blackburn sign German-American Jermaine Jones on loan from Schalke til the end of the season. Expect the Dingles to make a late effort to retain their dirty reputation.

I agree. 32 goals in 58 apperances since joining Sunderland 18 months ago for £10m is nothing short of a joke.
