Hoop Blah Kes, what are you thoughts on the JT situation?

I'm genuinely interested in what the Chelsea fans view is on the timing and the way it came out as well as the simple fact that Chelsea aren't offering him a new deal which some are reporting as a lack of respect or loyalty.

Any thoughts?

You're behind the times m8. Read the club st8ment on the situation.

The club have issued a statement on your thoughts ?
Blimey, you are more ITK than we thought.
Short statement presumably ?

And written in Crayon.

The club statement states that they're not offering him a contract. That might change, but as it stands they aren't and Terry has come out and broken ranks to make that public.

I was just genuinely interested as to how the Chelsea fans, and I guess specifically you, are seeing it. Are Chelsea disrespecting him? Has he been treated badly? Is it a sign that the club see him as a divisive character that they need out of the way before a new manager comes in? Should Terry have come out with this bombshell as it's surely not in the wider interests of the club as they enter a relegation battle?

Just wondering how you and other Chelsea fans see it.

Nor did Bobby Moore, Jack Charlton or Martin Hicks but no one would think Terry is in the same class as them

Why are you asking a troll for a straight answer in a normal conversation? He won't give one.

I think it just says that they think he's old and his legs are gone/going. It doesn't change that he's been one of the best English defenders of the last decade and a bit, it doesn't change that he's not a nice man.

I do think clubs should have very little sentimentality about players. Treat them well, don't push them away but what Terry did once shouldn't affect what contract he should be given - that should be based on how you think he'll perform.

Also, fucking love those cardies.

Would imagine Terry is one of the highest paid players at the club too, if not the highest paid. Hard to offer a contract extension to someone when their performances no longer justify the wage. Maybe they tested the water with a decrease in wage or even a more performance/appearance based contract and it went nowhere.

I'm all for a bit of sentiment as it happens, but I guess Chelsea don't have a great history in that regard. Cole, Lampard and now Terry let go when they'd rather have stayed, and of course there were issues with the way they recently treated Osgood as well wasn't there?

There were reports that Hiddink had said they should offer him a new contract and, from a football point of view, you'd have thought there was room for him in the squad as he's still getting a game pretty much every week so it's not like keeping Gorkss or Shorey around when they weren't close to playing (not that we did).

There's no doubting Terry's ability on the pitch, and the massive part he's played in their success, but I do wonder though if part of the decision to move him on is to allow the next manager to have an easier ride with the dressing room.

Has Abramovich apportioned some of the blame for this season at the door of a disgruntled Terry? Was he a key part of the problems that Scolari, AVB and perhaps Mourinho with the dressing room?

Mourinho & Terry both being told within around 6 weeks of each other that the club don't want them anymore could suggest that.

Actually, if you want the best example of Terry, take a look at what he did to Capello in 2010.

Things don't last forever in football. Whilst sentiment is nice there's not a lot of it in football today.

I think it all depends on Mourinho's successor. As with any massive club there are several names being bandied about. If Guus takes over full time I can see Terry staying on for another season which is why 'dialogue' is still open. Perhaps the club already have their new man in place and JT isn't part of his plans......it's all just speculation though as we've no idea what goes on behind the scenes.

Well yes, exactly. For all the talk of him being this great leader and man for the moment and caring captain who looks out for his team-mates, he does seem to look after number one well.

There was also that stage where he threw his toys out about a new contract and nearly left for City, then apparently asked for a 9 year contract was it? With a clause that would give him a chance to be Chelsea Manager at some point too.

Him coming out with this now, and pretty much on deadline day, stinks of him trying to force something.
