The big question is how suitable will it be for Premier League football and who will pay to make it so? There is around £50m set aside in the OPLC budget plus £40m from Newham Council to turn the stadium into what the local authority describes as a viable facility suitable for the community. That almost covers the estimated £100m costs. Come May it would be a surprise if West Ham weren't finally given the go ahead.
So that's how whoever moves into that ground are going to wangle paying for its modification. Disgraceful given the current financial climate and also where modification of a stadium should come in the overall scheme of local governement priorities.
