Probably some of the best business Utd ever did getting £12M for him while paying out no wages, no signing on fee and then seeing that he wouldn't have been good enough for them anyway.

Ouroboros That was pretty great at the end, Spain comgratulating the Tahitian players and then getting off so the crowd could cheer off the part-timers. Of course BBC felt the need to cut it off, doubtless to make sure the viewers get enough of Chapman's probing questions regarding this extremely serious footballing encounter.

Yep lovely scenes. Torres especially was very classy in terms of his attitude all night. Barely celebrated, consoled the keeper for his howler etc.

My favourite bit was how genuinely pleased Santi Cazorla looked with the gifts the Tahitians gave out at the hand shakes. He is the happiest little footballing imp, isn't he!?

The Confederations Cup could be abandoned because of the protests which have swept Brazil, Reuters have reported from local media in the region.
CBN radio and the website of the Estado de Sao Paulo newspaper, both respected, mainstream media, carried reports speculating that the eight-team tournament, considered a dry run for next year's World Cup, was in danger.

"FIFA will claim compensation from Brazil if the Confederations Cup has to be suspended," said a headline on CBN's website.
An estimated one million people took to the streets in cities across Brazil on Thursday as the country's biggest protests in two decades intensified despite government concessions meant to quell them.

The protests, now in their second week, have been about high taxes, inflation, corruption and poor public services and have also targeted the $26 billion of public money being spent on the World Cup and the 2016 Olympics.

A CBN report said one of the eight teams were pressuring their leaders to leave the Confederations Cup because they were worried about relatives who were in Brazil to watch the matches.

"On the legal side, there's a certain degree of confidence on FIFA's part that if the tournament is cancelled, it can launch a claim from the Brazilian government, if there are no safety guarantees for the competition or the World Cup," said the report by Juck Kfouri, a veteran Brazilian sports journalist.

"There is strong speculation, which won't go away," he added, referring to rumours that the competition was in danger.

The Estado said that FIFA was negotiating with the teams to try to persuade them to stay.

Anyone see what the Italy boss said about Mario??

Prandelli was quoted in the Daily Mail as saying at a press conference: "He was the only one who had permission because his colour is a little different than ours."

I do find it funny when people say anything about racism in the UK. Seriously, live in France or Italy, they're practically one step away from pillow sheets on head full-on stab-them-in-the-street nastiness.

Mental. I only assume its because ironically most Brits actually haven't really gone abroad. We're literally a beacon of actually not-all-that-racist-really compared to anything over the channel.

I've done a 20 at 10/11 which I thought was decent odds.

The Spain players were a lot worse, about 2/7 I think or something ridiculous. Also thinking that Suarez is the kind of mercenary that will shoot on site and quite happily walk away scoring 5 or 6 without a care for sportsmanship in the world.

That's good skillz!

My account is with Laddies though and they are always fairly poor odds.
