Don't think there's any doubt that Robinho has been badly represented by his agent. However once he'd said the stuff he had in public about his desire to leave Real Madrid and they refused to sell him to Chelsea he probably didn't have any other choice but to take the only other way out of Madrid.

If his agent's job is to maximise the earnings of his client then he's done a damn good job for him in the circumstances.

If you can buy the title - then I'm expecting the league table to look something like this with the summer spending.

Manchester City
Liverpool
Manchester United
Villa
Chelsea

Correct. He said so much stuff about Madrid, even calling his own press conference last week and then going on about how he couldn't be world player of the year there etc that he had no choice at all but to leave. Chelsea seemingly weren't prepared to match the valuation, Man City seem like the only club that would. decision made.

All the talk in Spain is that Robinho is now the highest paid player in the world on £160,000 a week.

You can't buy the title - all you can do is massively increase your chances of winning it - but after that it's down the the management of resources and sheer damn luck too.

Thats probably what his agent thinks too, I'd say its as much to do with managing his overall career not just the cash. Even before the move he'd have earnt enough money to live quite comfortably for the rest of his life. Surely this move should have been about whats right for his career not his bank balance?

LOL at moving the goalposts. When Chelsea won back 2 back titles they bought it. Now its changed! Wahey!

As for luck, there is NO luck in winning the Premiership, the best team wins it, no arguement. Cup competitions is where luck is at.

True, it was unlucky that Terry slipped and royally phucked up the chance to win the EC for the first time in the Club's history.
I mean, when was the last time that happened?

He has rarely lived up to his potential at Real Madrid as they were playing him in the wrong positions, they brough in Robben to help free him up and put him out on the right side of attack and subsequently spends the first half of last season on fire and one of the most on form players in Europe. The club then announce that they want Ronaldo to replace him and tell him he can leave, when they fail to get Ronaldo they tell him he can't leave.

If I was him I wouldn't want to hang around there as you know you are not really wanted.

Totally agree with you but his agent really should have told him to keep quiet and not say anything in press conferences until he'd signed for someone else. He ended up not being able to stay at Madrid, Madrid refusing to deal with Chelsea and Man City the only other option for him. Just seemed to be totally mismanaged from Robinho's side to me.

 Just cos City have all this money it doesn't mean Ronaldo will go - he's won the Premiership, he's won the FA Cup, he's won the League Cup, he's now won the Champions League so why, after his Utd days would he want to stay in Manchester but put on a blue kit and try do it all again. He WILL go abroad to win the honours in another country.....

I'm not making that quote up m8!

I think it's brilliant though, a second rate club, spot on.

TheMaraudingDog Breaking news on Setanta is that Real offered Robinho to United last night but we turned him down

Wouldn't surprise me. I don't think Robinho is gonna be the world beater that city fans are expecting. I can see him hiding when the going gets tough.

I think he said "second rank" not "second rate", by which he means a team ranked just below the very top teams; much like the one he's playing for now. He explains his reason for not leaving as being that it would not have left Ajax enough time to find a replacement, which suggests he probably would sign for City - and he could even claim footballing reasons (which he seems to be doing at the moment anyway...)
