Let's have the justification for the greed league of non-competition

Don’t ask me, I was only pretending to be a Liverpool fan.

Typical oma, always lying.

Snowflake Royal In fairness, it seems the players, fans and management in most cases are all just as opposed as the rest of us.

Yep, I haven't heard a single Liverpool fan approving of the plans

BT are twisting the knife, post match

"The owners won't be happy - they're going to have to earn the right to qualify for the Champions League"

Said it about thirty times alone in this thread but if Klopp can’t see the correlation between Fabinho starting in midfield and Liverpool doing better, then he’s done there

Almost everyone sees it aside from one man. It’s beyond strange now

Absolutely.

Weakened defence (not his fault because of the injuries) and seriously weakened midfield (most certainly his fault)

Only just seen they drew I saw 1-0 90+5 on the bbc website and assumed they'd hang on

#delightful

Ben Davies must be kicking lumps out of the turf in training or something. Bizarre that he can't get a game.

In 2021, Liverpool have three points (three draws) from seven games with Fabinho at centre-back, and they have 13 points from six games with him in midfield.

can you still get top4?

Wouldn't be surprised if you get a result against us on Sunday.

The (shitty) Europa League is prolly a bigger priority at the mo

Ironic* that if Liverpool had done shitter in the group stages of the Champions League they'd probably** now have a better chance of qualifying for next year's CL

*not really ironic, just a terrible outcome of the safety net afforded CL clubs
**if they could actually score a goal

Was also noticeable against Madrid (second tie anyway). Started with Fabinho in midfield, dominated the first 65 minutes, moved him back to CB for the last 25, the game began to fizzle out then

Will be a big summer for Liverpool. Can either see them continuing to decline or come back into it big time next season. Lot of deadwood to shift first before they can move on though

Its more bizarre that they signed him in the first place isn't it? Did they think the Kabak loan was going to fall through so signed him as backup to the backups just in case? Can't say he ever looked like a top half premier league player when playing for Preston. Good player but not one you'd think would make such a step up especially as he's 25 so not exactly a youngster who could get a lot better.

Various sources now saying that the Konate deal is done (and tellingly the Leipzig director is silent on it this time) - and a couple saying they will keep Kabak too, which should at least mean Fabinho is free to play his midfield role next season.

It looks like Liverpool will miss out of Europe this season - so in that respect they'll hope that Haaland, Mbappe and Sancho stay put this summer.

Same with Tsimikas isn't it? It seems Klopp would rather shift Milner over there than the backup LB - and whilst at 24 he probably hasn't his prime yet, certainly past the "youngster" age

If, as mentioned Konate joins (with Kabak) - that puts Davies as 7/8th choice (behind the returning Gomez, Virg, Matip, Kabak, Konate, and Phillips) - will defo end up on loan to a Champ team IMO

Maybe wrong with this, but I am sure I read that Davies was Celtic bound before Liverpool stepped in. Maybe he'll still end up there.

The Michael Edwards fan club on Twitter has been rumouring for some time that Liverpool will make a £5m profit on Davies in the summer.

Now, of course they wouldn't. As a PL contender and in the CL, of course they would consider them. Let's not be silly and pretend otherwise.

Lots of talking over the last few months about 'can Liverpool afford Mbappe/Haaland' that ignored the fact that it is their likely failure to qualify for the CL that will determine their transfer targets this summer, not how much FSG want to spend.

was thinking more about the cash that would need to be offered...yous just reported a 40-odd-million loss yesterday

and obvs would defo depend on getting CL which is still doable...I'd be very surprised if there isn't one week when LFC win and the other two don't a result. Make it exciting!

They could do with Chelsea getting through against Madrid - maybe less of a focus on league games then - and I believe if Chelsea ended 5th (or 6th) and won the CL - 5 teams would get through as opposed to the usual 4. Although I guess there's the further complication in the scenario that Arsenal also win the EL

I still fancy West Ham to make it though for some reason - only lost to 6 different teams so far this season (5 of them being the "big" 6 and strangely Newcastle twice) - no more of those teams to play

Yep, we get a 5th Champions League spot if Chelsea win it and finish outside of the PL top four. There's a nightmare scenario for Liverpool or the 4th-placed finisher though. If Chelsea win the Champions League and Arsenal win the Europa League, and both finish outside of the top four in the PL, our 5 Champions League spots are used up, meaning the 4th-placed PL team enters the Europa League.
