SLP-S
Farnborough v Hayes & Yeading United 4th v 3rd
- 2nd placed Taunton take on 5th placed W-s-M so quite a pre-cursor for possible PO matches - Met Police head the table - host lower mid-table Harrow.
- at the bottom Merthyr and Wimborne looked set for the drop with Kings Langley in some peril trail Dorchester by a point. Hartley 6 points further away should be OK, with only 5 games left for most

- Parkway look well set to challenge Frome for the honours here, with Winch hanging on just behind Totton who occupy 5th and the last PO spot.
- Cirencester Town and Bristol M-F are the others in the mix for the POs.
- the bottom two look 'gone' now Barnstaple (in spite of quite an upturn in form in 2022) and Mangotsfield. Cinderford could join them but further POs with STEP05 2nd/3rd placed sides and probable reprieves abounding, may see them safe.

Sheerwater v Walton & Hersham
- went to 2 fixtures in this league midweek
Tue: saw Fleet come from 3 down to grab an unlikely point late on at home to Frimley Green
Wed: trundled over to Ascot to see Jersey Bulls get thoroughly outfought and outhought by Balham 1-3 - they'll be keen to get back 'home' for their remaining 7 games - which I think are all at Springfield - includes a major clash when 2nd placed Beckenham visit this Tue evening.
The Kent side missed the chance to grab top spot with a surprise 3-1 reverse of their own over at CWU.

Andover New Street v Ringwood Town
New Milton Town v Andover Town
Newport (IOW) v Ash United
Totton & Eling v Fleet Spurs
Verwood Town v Petersfield Town
Whitchurch United
v Laverstock & Ford

...talking above of Kent : that may well be our destination tomorrow, as we continue to mop up that league - the journey to Erith last week was relatively trouble-free so I'm encouraged to venture even further inside the Orbital and tick off either Lewisham Borough or maybe Meridian up near The Valley.

I went to the Littlehampton game. It was a slightly odd sort of affair as it was pretty even other than Littlehampton looking far more dangerous in the box. They have scored a stupid number of goals this season - 114 in the league alone. Their top goalscorer this season has 56 goals. Littlehampton also had a goal disallowed for a tight offside call, and had one cleared off the line that looks like it might have been over.

3142 there, with a temporary terrace down the cricket pitch side. Sold out, other than the away corner. The visitors brought 112. Littlehampton have asked for more tickets than the initial 7000 they've been offered.

Before noticing the game was on, and finding there were still a few tickets left (it sold out 20 minutes later) I had pencilled in Wantage v Bedford Town. Naturally, if you change you mind, there will be loads of goals in the other game, and that ended 7-0 to the visitors.

NL round-up:

Saturday 2nd April

FA Trophy S-Fs
1 Wrexham 2-0 Stockport County Parky's lads go through thanks to TWO stoppage time goals (91' & 95') against the National league leaders.
2 Bromley 3-1 York City
FA Vase S-Fs
1 Littlehampton Town 4-0 Loughborough University [i] att 3142

2 Newport Pagnell Town 1-1 Hamworthy United H win 7-6 pens att 1868

NAT
Aldershot Town 0-2 Eastleigh Sh!ts lost both keepers to injuries during the match – the first one (Ethan Ross - collided with a defender) entailed 23 mins of stoppage in the first half.
Boreham Wood 0-1 Woking 10 man Cards win it with a 75’ pen and put a slight dent in Woods’ PO chances
FC Halifax Town 2-0 Wealdstone - Halifax having lost the previous 2 are now back up to 2nd but quite a way behind leaders Stockport
Solihull Moors 3-1 Maidenhead United
NATN
Brackley Town 1-0 Gateshead att 1557 – a record apparently for a league game – ‘Saints’ grab win with 81’ pen (Armson) - also their 23rd clean sheet of the season.
- they are now level with Gateshead with a game in hand.

https://www.brackleytownfc.com/teams/first-team/first-team-match-reports-2021-22/1292-match-report-brackley-town-v-gateshead

NATS
Bath City 0-0 Dulwich Hamlet
Billericay Town 0-1 Chippenham Town
Braintree Town 0-1 Hampton & Richmond Borough
Dorking Wanderers 5-0 Slough Town a recent dip in form has seen Wanderers slip off top spot now taken up by Maidstone
Eastbourne Borough 2-0 Concord Rangers
– Eastbourne Borough seem to be on a charge too with 6 straight wins taking them up to 4th – Ebbsfleet (5th) and Dartford (3rd) in the other ‘extended’ PO spots.

Ebbsfleet United 1-2 Hungerford Town creditable win here - ‘Crusaders’ back up to 7th – 2 more goals from Ryan Seager
- now sit 7 points behind 6th placed Oxford – nonetheless currently occupy the last PO spot -just ahead of Dulwich, Chipp’num, StAlebuns and Havant.

Hemel Hempstead Town 2-2 Chelmsford City
Maidstone United 4-0 Havant & Waterlooville
Oxford City 1-1 Dartford
Tonbridge Angels 1-0 Welling United

SLP-C
Banbury United 1-1 Tamworth att 1835 - ‘Puritans’ are confirmed as champions as 2nd placed Coalville drew a blank at home to Hednesford
SLP-S
Farnborough 0-0 Hayes & Yeading United att 879
Hendon 2-0 Beaconsfield Town
Kings Langley
0-0 Gosport Borough
Metropolitan Police 1-1 Harrow Borough
Swindon Supermarine 0-1 Truro City
Tiverton Town 0-2 Hartley Wintney
Walton Casuals 0-1 Chesham United ’Generals’ chasing the last PO spot, now a point behind W-s-M with a game in hand.
- Taunton grab top spot with a very late goal to beat Weston 3-2 - as others around them all falter – they also have games in hand on 2nd placed MetPol and HandY.
- Taunton travel down to Truro midweek whilst Farnboro also head west to ‘Tivvy’ the same night (Wed)
- Hayes & Yeading could regain 1st place, temporarily perhaps, the night before, if they can beat Salisbury at the SkyEx.
- At the bottom Dorchester’s vital win at Wimborne probably consigns them to relegation and Merthyr look to go with them in spite of a 5-0 win over Salisbury. KL’s blank with Gosport didn’t do them any favours. Hartley’s win at Tivvy very timely as probably ensures their survival at this Step.

SL1-C
Aylesbury United 4-0 FC Romania
Colney Heath 0-0 Thame United
Didcot Town
2-2 St Neots Town
Kempston Rovers 3-1 Kidlington
North Leigh 0-0 Ware
Wantage Town 0-7 Bedford Town leaders ruthless display at the ‘Freds’ - whose inevitable relegation is finally confirmed, along with Colney Heath after today’s results.
- Doubtful either can escape via PPG even if any reprieves that may occur do go that low down. On recent form that’s probably ill-advised anyway and best to re-group at STEP05 – likely to go back to Hellenic with CH returning to the SSML.

SL1-S
Highworth Town 0-0 Slimbridge
Larkhall Athletic 0-2 Winchester City Totton held at Paulton so Winch jostle past into the last PO spot : at the top Frome and Parkway both win

IL1-SC
Bedfont Sports 3-3 Hanwell Town
Binfield 0-0 Uxbridge
Chalfont St Peter0-1 Tooting & Mitcham United
Marlow 0-0 Basingstoke Town
Northwood 1-4 Chertsey Town
South Park 1-2 Bracknell Town 2 goals inside 10’ for Dave Tarpey settled the game - S.Park grabbed a consolation in 2nd half stoppage time
Staines Town PP Chipstead
Westfield 1-0 Sutton Common Rovers vital win for ‘Field’ over SCR just above them - both are now only 2 pts above Tooting & Mitcham who occupy the final relegation (PO) spot
– looks as if Chalfont and Staines are almost certain to face the drop – that’s if the latter can find a ground for next season, what with their current difficulties with Wheatsheaf Pk
- Sutton Common Rvrs are leaving Gander Green Lane for 22/23 season – indeed they’ve already been ‘borrowing’ other grounds at the end of this.
– there’s a bit of a ‘shuffle around of seats’ too with Kingstonian going over to Tooting & Mitcham and current groundsharers there (Tooting Bec) shifting over to Chipstead.
I suspect Leatherhead or Corinthian-Casuals might accommodate SCR, who hope to have their own facility back in Sutton for 23/24

Sun : Guernsey 1-2 Ashford T (Mx) att 668- Guernsey still in peril of being dragged into the drop zone only 1 pt above Westfield and SCR

CCL-PN
CB Hounslow United 1-3 Abbey Rangers
Hanworth Villa 5-0 Wembley
Holyport 1-2 Spelthorne Sports
North Greenford United 0-3 Ascot United
Reading City
2-1 Windsor Windsor down to 10 men 2nd half – were trailing 0-2 from Half-time - got one back (Horscroft 66’) then Muhemba saw Red 2’ later. City themselves reduced in numbers just before the break: 2nd Yellow for Baker.

Southall 2-0 Edgware Town
Virginia Water 0-0 Egham Town
Wokingham & Emmbrook
1-1 Burnham
CCL-PS
AFC Croydon Athletic 4-2 Farnham Town
Badshot Lea
0-3 Frimley Green
Beckenham Town 2-1 Banstead Athletic W&H’s slip up at ‘Sheers’ means Beckenham grab top spot on GD and have 2 games in hand with only 6 to play – they go to Jersey on Tue night
Cobham 0-3 Camberley Town
Colliers Wood United 1-4 Fleet Town
Guildford City
0-2 Redhill
Jersey Bulls 4-1 Molesey
Knaphill 1-1 Horley Town
Raynes Park Vale 0-4 Balham - bit of a shock here as Balham upset another top four placed side – they convincingly beat ‘Bulls’ in midweek and handed out a severe defeat to RPV here – which probably means Vale won’t be able to impact on the top two places now.
Sheerwater 1-1 Walton & Hersham

CCL-1
AFC Hayes 0-2 Wallingford Town
British Airways 5-0 Berks County
Chalvey Sports
4-2 Cove Sports win the battle of the basement and hop above Cove on GD
Enfield Borough 0-1 AFC Aldermaston
Hilltop 0-3 Rayners Lane
- successive 0-3 ‘home’ reverses for long time leaders Hilltop have seen London Lions – who were the winners here last w/e – now open up a 4 point gap over Hilltop – both sides have 7 games remaining –Rayners Lane in 3rd only have 4 left and are 7 points behind.
- Eversley & C are a further 8 points back with only 5 games left and Wallingford just behind them, may manage to draw close to 3rd if they can construct a blistering run in from their 9 remaining games – all scheduled for this month. They also have to face Hilltop twice and travel to the current leaders Lions on the final day (30/04)

-
Kensington & Ealing Borough 5-1 Eversley & California
Langley
0-4 London Lions
Sandhurst Town 5-6 London Samurai Rovers

SSM-P
Aylesbury Vale Dynamos 3-1 London Colney
Holmer Green 2-1 Dunstable Town
Leighton Town 2-0 Flackwell Heath att 355
Risborough Rangers 2-1 Baldock Town RR racked up 4 wins in 8 days to keep up the pressure at the top.
- Leaders New Salamis registered a {NINE} 9-0 win over Harefield to stay 3 points above Risborough but Rangers still have 2 games in hand with 6 to play.
- the sides meet in the final scheduled league fixture on the 23rd of this month @ RR’s 'Windsors' ground.

SSM-1
Amersham Town 2-1 Letchworth Garden City Eagles
Kidlington Reserves 0-1 Ampthill Town
Penn & Tylers Green 1-1 Rushden & Higham United
Thame United Reserves 1-4 Long Crendon

- ended up at a Division 2 clash in the depths of MK in this League :
SSM-2 New Bradwell St Peter 0-2 Old Bradwell Utd - a VERY ‘local’ local derby - and not our intended destination, as we set out.
- The M4 was closed E-bound and the M1 f£(&ed beyond Hemel meant we weren’t all that early arriving at our last minute (and poorly-researched) choice of the Vase S-F at Newport Pagnell v Hamworthy.
- I had tried a quick scan of the respective Twitterscapes and even the home sides’ own club page but somehow found no indication that it had sold out completely a week or so ago – as had the other semi at L’hampton.
– reportedly all went almost the day the tickets were put on sale – according to a Steward.
All a bit ‘After the Event’ but realistically that was very likely to be the case with only one leg for the S-Fs this season. I had only added it to the ‘match’ list as an afterthought that lunchtime, once the Kent games had been ruled out by potential traffic issues on the M25 anti-clock and beyond
- I knew my mate was keen from the week before but I evidently didn’t scrolled far enough past pages and pages of well-wishing twitterati to find the detail re tickets and sell out!
- Intriguingly 1700 was the capacity but the stated attendance was officially 1858, so they must have put more on sale or let a few more in on the day? Can't believe we were the only one's who'd have arrived without tickets. There was a large throng gathered around the bar and beer tent souvenir stand.
– I wasn’t at all fussed as I’d already been here and the SSM-2 game was a 10’ dash away – though hardly a comparable spectacle, was a new tick nonetheless and had a pleasant enough clubhouse.
- I did point out to my mate that he buys the soddin' NL paper each week and could have perhaps registered that this was a sell-out anyway – but to no avail!

WESS-P
Hamble Club A-A Alton Abandoned - bad injury to a home player late on with the ‘Brewers’ 3-2 up.
Eventful game : early in the 2nd half the visitors had scored to go 2-1 up with the home keeper down injured attempting a clearance – they then immediately allowed Hamble to ‘walk the ball in' to level things up from the KO.

WESS-1
Andover New Street {SEVEN} 7-0 Ringwood Town
New Milton Town 3-0 Andover Town
Newport (IOW) 3-0 Ash United
Totton & Eling 1-1 Fleet Spurs
Verwood Town 1-1 Petersfield Town
Whitchurch United
1-3 Laverstock & Ford

Chesham had a "goal" disallowed in their win.

Striker beat the keeper and ball was inside the far post. Goal was one of the mobile ones on wheels, so in the bottom corner there was a small stantion on the angle. The ball hit that and bounced back into play without crossing the line.

Apparently a bit of an unwritten rule that if that happens the ref should give the goal as the ball is essentially in but was ruled out.

No. It just caught my eye as an interesting game to go to. I tend to go to some random game on a Saturday if Reading are away, and the weather isn't crap.

It's only 50 miles from Berkshire, even if the route isn't the fastest, so was an easy choice. In contrast, last weekend I was up in South Shields, but I wasn't doing the driving for that one. Furthest I've driven for a game was Blyth Spartans, when I had a strange desire to go up there, partly because it is so stupidly far away. When you start driving home and see a sign saying "Newcastle and the south", you do start to wonder what the oxf*rd you are doing.

... not quite local but in a featured league - and touched on above - Sutton Common Rovers have announced they will be playing @ Whyteleafe's ground for 22/23.

.... However MUCH more locally for what is the onset of 'silly season' (an NL fraternal term for clubs without lights kicking off midweek early )
2 TVL-P results tonight - might even have hauled myself out to one of these, if the weather had been nicer and I'd not been stuck working longer than necessary :(

Finchampstead 3–3 Wargrave
Mortimer 1-5 Wargrave

...will be plenty more till the end of the season TVL are using Mondays and Wednesdays usually 18:00 KOs

......and not just in this league: with the Oxfordshire Senior Leagues, the North Baaarks and the Surrey Leagues probably scheduling some too ..... not often much fan furniture but a few decent local Pubs abound as well as the occasional well-hidden social club (i.e. Long Wittenham - a personal fave  )

...also for some novelty value there could be a few games at 'borrowed' grounds with more conventional start times Marlow Utd at Marlow - Wraysbury (possibly) @ Staines - notwithstanding the issues ongoing there?

Bit of trouble at the top of the table Brackley Gateshead game. Big crowd, over 1500 (a record I think) and segregation in place.

But after the game 35 to 40 people took part in a mass brawl outside the ground.

I didn't go to this one...

Brackley won1-0 and are now level on points with Gateshead but have a game in hand

Royals and Racers Last night my mate ventured over to Oxford City’s ground to watch the 2nd semi- final of the Oxfordshire senior cup. Both semi’s held on the ground and Oxford City lucky enough to be in it and therefore at ‘home’. They beat North Leigh 4-1 to set up a barnstorming final against neighbours Oxford Utd who had beaten Thame 2-0 in the other semi. I suppose City can’t complain if they hold the final at the Kassam stadium.

Final at Oxford City`s ground on Tuesday 3rd May( all the county 16 finals are at Oxford City).

While agreeing with the general sentiment you are always going to get the possibility of situations like this with clubs on the fringe of the constituent league borders. In this case Keynsham should really be in the Hellenic not the Western while someone like Cribbs might be better placed in the Western rather than the Hellenic given their closer proximity to the M5.

For the record Keynsham are 10th but Mousehole are 2nd in the Western Premier 4 points behind Tavistock (both have played 31) so it’s going to be interesting to see what the Western League do, normally an unfulfilled fixture would be a case of a win being awarded to the opponents which might make Tavistock (and Exmouth in 3rd) question things.

... crowd figure given above as 1557 - can't remember where I found that - probably on twitter somewhere - some leagues do appear to take a while to publish/collate their attendance figures, even at that level of the Pyramid ...

...and 'Saint's draw their game in hand tonight (Tue 5th) at Curzon 0-0 to move into top spot - host York City this Sat whilst Gateshead are at home to Chester.

In the Southern section 'Magpies' also draw a blank away at Wealdstone.

Kings Lynn are performing a great escape but their chairman is just awful. Twitter account posting "refereeing errors" when decisions go against him - hope they drop and Aldershot stay up.

- looking like the most open & even contest around the Pyramid with four clubs in with a decent shout of the title - H&Y won 2-0 v Salisbury to return to the top on GD but 2nd placed Taunton - beaten 1-0 at Truro on Wed- have a game in hand.
- MetPol who host Taunton are 3rd a point behind. Farnborough 2 pts further back also lost on Wed 2-0 at Tivvy - but they too have a game in hand.

SL1-C
Aylesbury United v Kempston Rovers
Biggleswade v Didcot Town
Harlow Town v Kidlington
North Leigh v Hertford Town
St Neots Town v Thame United
Wantage Town v Colney Heath only pride for not finishing bottom at stake here - both clubs relegated – ‘Freds’ are three points adrift with a worse GD

CCL-1
AFC Aldermaston v Bedfont & Feltham
AFC Hayes v Chalvey Sports
FC Deportivo Galicia v Woodley United
Hillingdon Borough v Enfield Borough
Kensington & Ealing Borough v Cove
London Lions v Berks County
Rayners Lane v British Airways
Wallingford Town v Hilltop - big clash as Town welcome 2nd placed Hilltop - very unlikely to finish higher than 3rd now but have a good chance of overhauling Eversley & C. and Rayners Lane just above them - who've both played 4 games more.

HELLENIC – designated Cup weekend as the League programme virtually over
Premier: RWBT finishing 12th though have 2 games left, Shrivvy down in 15th – have both found it tough against an influx of Bristol-based sides – Bishops Cleeve look to have returned to STEP04 and reportedly have much improved their ground – with Westbury perhaps joining them.
Hallen & Calne to drop to Div One - probably.
Up from Div One most likely Studley and Worcs Raiders – Milton finished 8th and Ab Utd escaped the wooden spoon by some margin probably finishing 3rd bottom after an horrendous start of no points, from their first doz. or so fixtures.

Newport (IOW) v Fleet Spurs
Whitchurch United

...and finally ....I ventured out on a wet 'n gloomy Wed eve - initially heading over to Scours/IBIS for a TVL-P game between City U23s and Maidenhead Town - but that got called off about 20' before the scheduled 18:00 KO - reportedly the River IBIS pitch living up to it's name!
- undeterred and since I was over in the 'wild west' 'burbs - I trekked up and down the other side of 'Toilehurst' and onto the A4 - along to Theale Rec for :
Westwood Wanderers 4-2 Wargrave
- sadly Theale Social Club doesn't currently open on a Wed :| but otherwise saw an entertaining encounter and enjoyed the trip out
- kicked off late (so I didn't miss much) as the visitors were struggling to get an XI out and there by 18:00
- definitely didn't appear to have a regular keeper in anything but where he stood on the field during the game :) - tbf he did improve late on and saved a flurry of shots but they were 1-4 in arrears by then.

Royals and Racers Westbury Utd not happy https://twitter.com/westburyutd?ref_src ... r%5Eauthor

It can be facical at that level. I went with a mate down there over Christmas and the away team called to say the couldn't raise a team due to covid, less than 90 minutes before kick-off.
