Sanguine As much as fixture congestion is a thing, I reckon Liverpool would rather catch up their game in hand sooner, for a chance to establish a cushion at the top again.

Hard to know what to expect from their game at Spurs next week. They have looked a little off the boil since their twin wins over Real and City - notwithstanding that from the minute of Robertson's red card it was very much 'a point gained' on Saturday.

In the last six weeks, Spurs have pulverised City and Villa, lost to Ipswich and Bournemouth, and narrowly lost to Chelsea a game they probably should have won. So who knows what will turn up against the league leaders.

The rearranged Everton v Liverpool game will likely be confirmed for Tuesday 11 February as Liverpool should be avoiding the CL play offs that week so is the first free date they’re likely to have apart from New Years Day and the authorities won’t wear a change to then.

What do you think about the red card? We discussed it recently. I'm far too biased to give a worthy answer. The main difference seems to be the outcome (possibly positioning, can't rem)

As refereed, I think it was correct, hard for me to disagree that Wilson was denied a clear goalscoring opportunity.

There's a lot of grey in the laws though. And some black and white.

On the latter, the laws have simply been applied wrongly.

12.3 If the referee plays the advantage for an offence for which a caution/sending-off would have been issued had play been stopped, this caution/sending-off must be issued when the ball is next out of play. However, if the offence was denying the opposing team an obvious goal-scoring opportunity, the player is cautioned for unsporting behaviour.

So Robertson should only have been cautioned.

The 'grey' I refer to is what constitutes advantage received. I'd argue that Jimenez got that advantage and failed to score. The incident has been refereed as 'Fulham didn't score so I'm taking it back', which I'm not sure is right. But again, no real complaint, as written, 'advantage' is subjective, per the current laws.

On refereeing in the game in general, I'm not too sure how Diop avoiding a very early red for his challenge on Robertson.

Looks like Pereira should have got a red too, still as social media will always tell you, every decision goes Liverpool's way

While I agree with what actually happened, given what it says in 12.3 then the sending off cannot be for “the denying of a goalscoring opportunity”. If it was then it is plainly incorrect and yet another incident highlighting how incompetent and unfit for purpose PGMOL referees are and grounds for Liverpool to appeal the card.

Again, if FSG allow Mo Salah to leave the club on a free transfer - because that is what it will be, and no less - it will be one of the most bizarre acts of footballing self-sabotage I think any Premier League owner has ever achieved.

Salah has just set a Premier League record of eight games in a single season where he has both scored and assisted a goal - on 29th December.

Trent too, to only a slightly lesser extent. Salah is the best player in the world at the moment. Rumours that Trent might have already made his mind up to leave anyway - but the guy is very much a 'generational' player.

But then FSG are cheapskate arses more interested in the yank sports they have, and while this leaves the club as one of the best run elite clubs in the world, the utter lack of putting money in when it’s required leaves the fans verging on apoplexy and so often wondering what might have been if these numpties had invested. For instance, now their fans will be praying Gomez does not have an injury that could keep him sidelined for weeks as they know their owners won’t stump up cash for a quality replacement in January (unless it’s Bindon  ). Meanwhile how the 3 outstanding player renewals has been left to get in this mess and to drag on and on and on and on and on and on is quite baffling.

Jason Cun?y embarrassing himself on Talkbollox the other day. Liverpool are boring according him

This is the side that are top of the PL having scored more than one else, went through December scoring 3 at Newcastle, in possibly the best game in the PL so far this season, smashed in 6 at Spurs, and could have had more, then stuffed 5 past the hammers. In January they could have seriously done Forest but for the lack of a bit of luck and recorded the most away attempts the PL has ever seen at Brentford.

Most out of touch and amusing comment on this failed station since another failure, Troy Deeney, saying that Salah isn’t world class.

I had Cundy down as one of them Chelsea fans (much like our Kes) that thinks his club has some kind of big rivalry with Liverpool, so spends his time trying to pick at them like their most fierce rivals fans would, even though Liverpool don't consider Chelsea a rival and don't pay any more attention to them than they do any other club

What's odd about the Cundy comment is that evidently aren't boring to watch. They attack at pace, they use the flanks, lots of movement between the lines and short triangles around the midfield. It is objectively excellent football. Not sure what style they could adopt that would be more 'exciting'.

I put it on the radio on Monday morning because Nick Ferrari was annoying me on LBC. And it was impossible to listen to. Ferrari's racist tones were back on within minutes.

I have got into the habit of downloading the daily 1 hour White & Jordan show highlights podcast. It's basically the 2 big topics they have debated, with a guest who has insight on it etc. It means you mostly (but not always) get to avoid hearing the callers on there (I don't need to know what Steve from Wigan thinks of FFP thanks)

And for as much flack as SJ gets, some of which is very understandable, I actually don't mind him. When he talks about the workings of football and his experiences of things that have happened i like it. You kind of have to have a SJ filter on to make sure the 25% nonsense is ignored though.

Men paid to say conrtroversial or outlandish statements to get people angry enough to phone in to a radio station that needs callers to be a phone in radio station, in saying something controversial shocker.

Jason Cundy does not think Liverpool are boring, he wants you to think he does so you'll engage with the station who pay his wage.

People employed to get a reaction that drives social media engagement, in "saying outrageous things to get a reaction" shocker!

Really? Other than all this AFC Charity nonsense his favourite moan, and there is almost nothing in football he doesn't have a gripe with, seems to be about Liverpool's Fenway Sports Group ownership.

To be honest, most of the Liverpool supporters I know have a very different viewpoint to a lot of the long distance internet/armchair based fans.

I wonder how many of them will nod sagely in appreciation of FSG's strategy when three of the best players in the world leave the club for free.

I never really hear anyone talk about VVD leaving, as if its just assumed he will get a deal that keeps him there for a few more years.

I predict Salah & VVD will stay, while TAA will leave
