RockheadRumple Howard is the captain, too! I'm very happy for him and I'm quite excited in a way about how Portsmouth are doing things. It's a great opportunity for any young player already there and very attractive for other young players.

Yes! It's Great!

Kieran Djilali - 21-year-old winger, most recently at AFC Wimbledon
Mustapha Dumbuya - 25-year-old right-back, left Doncaster in summer
Jon Harley - 32-year-old former Chelsea left-back, left Notts County in summer
Brian Howard - 29-year-old midfielder most recently at Reading. Will be Pompey captain
Izale McLeod - 27-year-old striker who left Barnet this summer
Lee Williamson - 30-year-old midfielder, formerly of Sheffield United
Simon Eastwood - 23-year-old goalkeeper who played in the Plymouth defeat
Jack Compton - 23-year-old midfielder who left Falkirk in the summer
Luke Rodgers - 30-year-old former Lillestrom striker
Liam Walker - 24-year-old midfielder who played for Spanish side San Roque last season

They need more quality than that to avoid a second successive relegation.

A total clear out of the players due to the finacial situation at the club, with a new set players now bought in off the list of availables.

I for one will be looking for the Pompey result each week to see how they do!!

I don't see how the can possibly last the season.

Even if the trust receives say, 75% of their pledges in full and get help from the council they are no where near having enough cash to:

- Fund the CVA
- Fund the running costs of the club
- Buy the stadium from the last owner
- Buy the tracks of land around the stadium from the 3rd to last owner

I'm assuming the remaining parachute payments are effectively reserved to pay off Kitson et al and the other football creditors.

The league will do everything they can to avoid a mid season failure but it must have been tempting to block them from starting without the administration resolved.

Too politically difficult for the league to deliver the death blow I suspect.

I hope that they suffer a 100% defeat record.

You'd be surprised - once a community realises that they actually own their own football club all sorts of people come out of the woodwork and contribute both money and skills. I think they'll get much more than 75% of their pledges, and that they'll also get contributions from some high net worth individuals once the deal is done. A lot of people are waiting to see the deal go through - then I think it'll really capture their imagination.

you'd hope it'd be the same at RFC except I suspect our core support is somewhat smaller

At RFC it'd be much smaller - unless we had a guarantee of success, in which case people would probably contribute as long as they got something back.

Only a small minority would do it for the pure love and support of the team.

I love this quote from TB:

"The compromise agreements also need to be revisited and we need to look at the Trust plan and see what can now be paid to the Football Creditors."

Portsmouth manager Michael Appleton hopes to bring in another seven players ahead of the club's opening League One match against Bournemouth tomorrow. Appleton signed 10 players yesterday - all on one-month contracts. Reading goalkeeper Mikkel Anderson is expected to join on loan today, as will Chelsea midfielder Conor Clifford. Appleton is also working on loans for winger Jordan Obita from Reading and Celtic defender Josh Thompson. Other trialists include former Crystal Palace and Stoke midfielder Tom Soares.

Fantastic piece on Pompey's continuing lack of financial fairplay from the two unfortunates:

I can see that's going to go down well.

TB: "hey Kitson, you know we agreed to pay you 30% of what you were owed and left you without a job, well now we need to renegotiate that deal so we can afford to pay inflated League 1 wages to players like Brian Howard"
Kitson: "oxf*rd off!"

Just a question for you all....

Assuming the Trust take over Pompey, at what point do they get disassociated from the sins of the past in people's minds - or will they always have the deeds of past owners hanging over them? They will financially, of course, and will always be at a disadvantage from that, but morally when will people stop hating them and wishing them ill because of what previous owners did?

I think a lot of that depends on their financial behaviour, and right now it looks as if it's carrying on. The current plan to screw creditors (football and business) in order to fund a "competitive" team is just a continuation of the financial doping they have been doing for years, and having walked away from over £250m debt you have to say they have got away with it.

The £3m they claim to have in the bank to fund it is down to £4m of parachute payments, that should be going to pay the creditors not to fund the first team.

Were they to run a kids team on a budget, get relegated and rebuild, I'd have a lot more time for them as a club. But right now I just want them to FOAD.
