listening to today's Price Of Football podcast (today's one is very is very interesting) and Kieran Maguire said that he knows of a high profile Premier league club who not so long ago had their manager + 5 former managers all on the payroll still so as to avoid large payouts and spread them over multiple seasons

I know its standard in Italy to do this as it not only spreads payments out but also forces the manager to resign and forfeit some of the money, but in this country now its just being done for PSR reasons.

Agreed. Go back 6 managers with Forest your looking at Aitor Karanka in 2017 and then people like Sabri Lamouchi, Martin O'Neill and Chris Hughton.

If you go back 6 managers with Chelsea,you've got Potch (who's contract was scheduled to run until 2024), Potter (who signed a 5 year deal in 2020), Tuchel and Lampard, with Sarri and Conte before that if you count Lampard's second spell as only caretaking.

Sarri left to join Juventus so it is conceivable that Chelsea were still paying Conte, Tuchel, Lampard, Potter and Potch at the start of this season, especially if they spread payments over a wider term than the remaining time on the contracts, which Wikipedia certainly suggests they were doing with Lampard.
