Not really surprised, given the witch hunt, but at the same time, that's ridiculous

Is this ban only for PL games? If it is then looking at this seasons fixtures he wouldn't be able to play again until October.

I think 10 games is waaaaaay over the top. Especially as racism is only 7 games.

Does this not send out the message that racism is more acceptable than biting?

Depends how the FA dealt with it really. If they treat it as a 2nd offence then the length can't really be compared the racism-g8 ban

8.

But this isn't the first time Suarez has been banned for biting. He got banned for 7 games in 2010 when he bit Otman Bakkal while playing for Ajax, it's possible that affected the length of this ban. It also means his claim yesterday that his ban should only be three games was both spurious and mendacious.

:?: What does that make the FA's suggestion to the "independent" tribunal that 3 games wasn't nearly enough?

FA have already said the previous bite was not taken into account as it was not under them

Not quite, because he has already had a major disciplinary problem in this country, regardless of the nature of it, his second offence is deemed worse and therefore the ban is longer.

I was only going on what the FA said at the time:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 076094.stm

The FA An FA spokesman said: "We are unable to take any action because the referee has already dealt with the incident.

"Fifa regulations prevent us from taking retrospective action

There was a big fracas, it all kicked off, Defoe got booked - what am I missing here, or did they (the FA and BBC) get it wrong too?

LUX hope Suarez does get it.

One or two people on here will explode.

It would be bloody hilarious if he won it. What an embarrassment.

He won't though. There's enough black players to see to that.

It certainly used to be the case (or it was claimed) that most clubs would get one player to vote for all the players at that club, as most of them couldn't really give a shit. If that was true and is still the case, Suarez being racist probably won't affect it too much. You can't help feeling that even if he has won, it will be fixed so that it goes to Bale.

You'd of thought he'd get nowhere near the shortlist if that was the case
