Four Of Clubs Results from yesterday
Saturday 1st April
FAT – S-F
Altrincham 1-1 FC Halifax Town - att 4,771 - 2-3p
Gateshead 3-3 Barnet - not seen att. anywhere yet (?) 4-1p – ‘Heed’ led 3-0 at one point – Bees levelled on 101 mins - to take the match to a shoot-out
– home keeper James Montgomery, saved two pens – he’s a relatively distant relation of Jim Montgomery of 1973 Cup Final fame (wiki) – I saw him (James not Jim!) play for Telford about 7 years ago.
- Final
Sunday 21st May 3 p.m.
FAV – S-F

League
NAT
Dagenham & Redbridge 0-2 Dorking Wanderers three wins in a row now for Wanderers – opens up an 8 point gap to the drop zone and sees them above the Sh!ts on GD – have three relegation rivals up in their next three fixtures, I believe.
- Maidstone beaten 0-4 at home by Boreham Wd are confirmed as relegated.
- Yeovil, Torquay and ‘Scunny’, fill the other three places – so unless the ‘Glovers’ or ‘Gulls’ can overhaul Gateshead or York, there’s going to be some geographical tweaks required. Yeovil go to Gateshead on Tue night.
- At the top Wrexham hit the 100 point mark with a 5-1 mauling of Oldham (att 9,910) – Mullin hat-trick - to go three points clear of Notts County - with game in hand … and now better a GD.
Maidenhead United 0-0 Chesterfield
NATN
AFC Fylde 3-0 Brackley Town – ‘Saints’ beaten at leaders
Banbury United 0-0 Blyth Spartans
NATS
Hemel Hempstead Town 1-1 Slough Town
Oxford City v Tonbridge Angels
SLP-C
Kings Langley 2-3 Stourbridge
- Hednesford and AFC Rushden & Diamonds relegated from this division with Bedford Town most likely to go down with them
- KL still 4th bottom and in danger of dropping: are 3 points adrift of safety with 5 games left.
- top spot to join the NAT-N, looks like a three-way fight between Coalville, Tamworth & Leiston.
SLP-S
Beaconsfield Town 3-2 Truro City
Chesham United 5-1 Yate Town
Merthyr Town 3-1 Hanwell Town
- Gosport v Hendon abandoned as no replacement official available, when a linesman/assistant was unable to continue?
SL1-C
Berkhamsted 0-0 Kidlington - Berko were crowned as Champions of this division, in spite of being held 0-0 by ‘Kiddy’ - their draw in front of 534
Didcot Town 1-0 Cirencester Town - att 262
- went to this –pitch was fine and lights unused - so no issues as in recent weeks
- was an insipid, somewhat stale encounter with neither side giving up much space – and very few chances at either end - became a midfield grapple and Ciren. are a big strong outfit with faint ambitions of grabbing a PO place themselves.
- hosts won it with almost the last kick/header on 93’ to hang on to 3rd spot – with 4 games to play.
- Biggleswade in 2nd are above on GD and Walthamstow, who were held by basement club Barton Rovers are in 4th 5 points behind – have both played 2 games less than Diddy. One more win should see the ‘Railwaymen’ secure a PO berth.
Waltham Abbey 1-3 Thame United
IL1-SC
Bedfont Sports 0-1 Leatherhead
South Park 2-1 Uxbridge
Sutton Common Rovers Merstham
Thatcham Town 2-1 Chertsey Town att 167 – goals from Josh Edwards and Simeon Weekes
Walton & Hersham 5-1 Basingstoke Town 1,651 – covered above – just the one goal for W&H’s Eddie Simon this week
– ‘stoke’s next game Good Friday PM H v Southall
– W&H trek over to Guernsey on Easter Sat. for a lunchtime game
‘Green Donkeys/Lions’ have picked up on form recently and pulled clear of the danger zone.
- Looks as if two from Ashford (Mx) Sutton Common Rvrs, Merstham or Bedfont Sports could be dropping down with Tooting & M. That might cause an imbalance in the CCL – though I s’pose Merstham could go Southern Counties (Kent) as could SCR?
- Coming up from the SC (though more likely to the IL1-SE) could be Erith & Belvedere but there’s a lot of (unsubstantiated and quite unpleasant) ‘chatterings’ about the ‘Deres’ one-time 20 point lead, evaporating to the point that Phoenix Sports may yet get past them. Rumours abound that E&B are imploding, due to a major disagreement/discontent within the playing squad, possibly about them being released to play for (as featured on here of late) the SE Dons on Sundays.
Westfield 2-3 Marlow - ‘Blues’ stay 3rd
CCL-PN
Broadfields United 1-2 Egham Town
Edgware & Kingsbury 4-1 Chalfont St. Peter
London Lions 0-2 Wokingham & Emmbrook – much needed win for ‘Sumas’
Spelthorne Sports 2-3 Windsor – stop the recent run of poor defeats (5 in a row & 10 since their last win I think) and just hauls them back above Oxhey off the bottom
– were helped by Chalfont’s heavy defeat above too - though not W&E’s win – 19th and 20th could go down to CCL-1.
Windsor are at Rivermoor on Tuesday - if it’s 'resurfaced' by then – Oxhey host Wallingford and Chalfont are at home to London Lions
CCL-PS
Badshot Lea 2-0 Tadley Calleva
Balham 2-1 Alton
Frimley Green 0-4 Sheerwater - confirms FG will finish last this season – currently Fleet Town, Guildford or Sheerwater, are amongst about half a doz. clubs that may be dropping with them to CCL1 … but I suspect the intention is that relegation will be based upon a STEP05 wide PPG rating.
Jersey Bulls 1-2 Raynes Park Vale - ‘Bulls’ beaten by league leaders as their uncharacteristic poor run of home form continues.
Knaphill 2-2 Farnham Town
Redhill 3-4 Guildford City
CCL-1
CB Hounslow United 3-1 Bagshot - win for CBH sees the two clubs swap places at the bottom.
Langley 4-2 Molesey – - Langley draw level with Berks County - both sides 1 point behind leaders Depor - who’ve played a game more. County are ‘borrowing’ Ascot’s ground on Tue night for the visit of 6th placed Bedfont - to help with fixture congestion
– maybe don’t trust the surface at Stubbs La (Binfield) to endure after this recent excess of wet-stuff?
- that night sees Langley down at Eversley and Sandhurst (currently 8th) host bottom club Bagshot.
- ‘Fizzers’ will harbour faint hopes of charging into the mix. They will need to come from a long way back though, with the number of games they have left
– puts 'landlords/co-hosts' Bracknell's fixture pile-up into some perspective .... but Sandhurst still have 14 games to play -that's according to NLM (7 home : 7 away) but - as touched on above - even the FA.com league site itself has lost track and only shows 10 left.
The CCL’s own site shows a table with them in 6th place with 13 games left but only lists 9 Fixtures for April – though the Table on their own weekly Bulletin lines up with NLM!
Penn & Tylers Green 2-0 Woodley United
Spartans Youth 0-4 Rayners Lane
HELL- P
Roman Glass St George 1-3 Royal Wootton Bassett Town Bassett up to 6th but only have 3 games left – visit Shrivenham on Tuesday night
HELL-1
Kidlington Res 0-1 Long Crendon
- result of some note in this section: Cirencester Town ‘Dev’ (I mentioned them last week and a couple of pages back) won their first (and penultimate) fixture of the season, 2-0 at Moreton Rangers - to avoid the dreaded ‘no wins’ tag.
SSM-P
Potton United 0-1 Risborough Rangers
St Panteleimon 3-2 Aylesbury Vale Dynamos
SSM-1
London Tigers 3-1 Eaton Socon ‘Tigers’ off the bottom with this win
Thame United Reserves 3-3 Letchworth Garden City Eagles
Wellingborough Whitworth 2-3 Holmer Green - HG needed this with London Tigers registering 3 points – means ‘Thame Ressies’ drop to last place – not sure on relegation rules in place from STEP06 – much of it is influenced by facilities rather than performance – but if ‘demoted’ they could drop into the SSM Div 2 (a rarity that a league has a ‘direct’ STEP07 feeder) or perhaps switch back across into the ‘non-feeder’ Hellenic Div 2s.
… they could also join the Oxfordshire Senior Leagues - their parent club are in that County FA. Originally part of the club itself, had their roots in that league in a former guise (as Oakley United) - before being fully absorbed into Thame at the ASM Stadium set-up in the mid-2010s....
Tue evening sees HG go to Thame Res and Tigers 'host' their own landlords (Amersham) at Spratley's
WESSEX all games off bar 2 in the Premier – included the rarity of leaders AFC Portchester dropping more points, in a 1-1 draw with Baffins in front of 510. They have 3 games left and a healthy lead though Horndean back in 3rd have 5 games in hand.
Oxford City won 4-0
