Hopefully off to watch Berks County take another step towards promotion tomorrow night.

Sadly the game is against Sandhurst at Bottom Meadow which last I heard is underwater.

Royals and Racers
tmesis
Royals and Racers Truro v Bracknell now next Monday 17th and Met Police v Bracknell now on Thursday 20th
This means Bracknell play the remaining 4 games- Sat, Mon, Thurs, Sat

...and then Wednesday for their play-off semi (assuming they don't overtake WSM)

It does make you wonder why the season couldn't have ended a week or two later.

There is an interesting statement from the combined counties league about the situation. https://footballinberkshire.co.uk/news/ ... statement/

Thinking, after reading that, that one thing that should be changed immediately is the priority being given to county FAs for their cups over a club’s “bread and butter” league games. Is there perhaps an argument to scrap all the county FAs and have The FA iteself directly take on responsibility.

Just utterly so crazy!

Today - Sandhurst Town v Berks County
Saturday - Eversley & California v Sandhurst Town
17 Apr - Sandhurst Town v FC Deportivo Galicia
18 Apr - Sandhurst Town v Bedfont
19 Apr - Sandhurst Town v Molesley
20 Apr - Woodley United v Sandhurst Town
22 Apr - Sandhurst Town v Rayners Lane

At least Bracknell are installing a 3G in the summer so shouldn’t be an issue next season for either club.

Another thought, perhaps games that obviously would have no effect on promotion or relegation positions could be played after the official end of a season?

I would imagine there is going to be a lot of disgruntled supporters around the National South / North levels next season - alot of this will hinge on Oxford City and whether they get promoted. As it stands and almost certainly likely - 3 Southern Clubs will be relegated from the National League - straight into National South - there will be a need to do alot of jiggling around.

But then Oxford would pick up some decent derbies against Banbury, Hereford, Gloucester, Kettering, Brackley and possibly Leamington, if they can survive relegation. Think only Braintree could be any contender to be shunted over but as Oxford is more central and has a better road system around it don't think there'll really be any other outcome than moving "the hoops" over.

Meanwhile seems it should be fairly straight forward for relegation from the two regional National Leagues with, in the NLN, Leamington and Telford going to the Southern League Central Premier and Blyth and Bradford Park Avenue going to the Northern Premier. In the NLS Cheshunt (or Dulwich) and Concord should be a fit for the Isthmian leaving Weymouth and Hungerford for the Southern Premier South.

The only fly would be if Leamington got out and dropped Farsley in as then a Northern League team would have to be shunted to the Southern Premier Central.

If Basingstoke Town manage to get promoted i hope they also get moved across like Bracknell to the Southern League - so many better games for them locally and increased gates - Isthmian Premier involves to much travelling going East.... Hoping they can be a direct replacement for Hartley Wintney.

...here's the w/e games - Basingstoke play on Sunday after W&H (providing the winds have dropped around the CI s) so may know what they need to do
- rather immaterial if W&H beat Southall anyway?

NL Results :

Saturday 17th April

NAT
Aldershot Town v Scunthorpe United
Boreham Wood v Wealdstone
Chesterfield v Eastleigh –- ‘Spitfires’ PO chances suffered a set-back - were beaten 2-5 by Gateshead in midweek.
Dorking Wanderers v Altrincham
Notts County v Woking - 17:30 KO on BT Sport
Oldham Athletic v Maidenhead United
- Wrexham are at Barnet
NATN
Brackley Town v Darlington
Bradford (Park Avenue) v Banbury United
NATS
Chelmsford City v Hungerford Town - ‘Crusaders’ fell to a dismal 0-1 defeat at bottom club Concord on Thursday
Dover Athletic v Oxford City
Slough Town v Farnborough

SLP-C
Hednesford Town v Kings Langley
SLP-S
Beaconsfield Town v North Leigh
Bracknell Town v Gosport Borough
Chesham United v Salisbury
Dorchester Town v Hendon
Hartley Wintney v Tiverton Town - Hendon’s point earned at Hanwell midweek almost certainly confirms Hartley’s relegation based on vastly inferior GD
Hayes & Yeading United v Plymouth Parkway
Poole Town v Harrow Borough
Truro City v Metropolitan Police
Weston-super-Mare v Merthyr Town
Winchester City v Hanwell Town
Yate Town v Swindon Supermarine
SL1-C
Berkhamsted v Highworth Town - ‘Worthians’ travel to Champions ‘Berko’ almost certainly consigned to a relegation PO - as they lost midweek at home to nearest rivals Aylesbury and sit 7 points adrift with only 3 to play

Biggleswade v Aylesbury United
FC Romania v Didcot Town
Thame United
v Hadley
Welwyn Garden City v Kidlington

IL1-SC
Ashford Town (Middx) v Thatcham Town
Binfield
v Chipstead
Chertsey Town v Merstham
Hanworth Villa v Bedfont Sports
Marlow v Uxbridge
South Park v Northwood
Tooting & Mitcham United v Leatherhead
Walton & Hersham v Southall
Westfield v Sutton Common Rovers
Sun 16th April Guernsey v Basingstoke Town

CCL-PN
Ascot United v Chalfont St Peter - a 3-0 win at Edgware on Thursday evening crowns the ‘Yellamen’ as Champions;
- Egham in 2nd won 4-1 at NGU
- ‘City’ are 2 points further back in 3rd, having played a game more, beat Harefield at Scours 2-1;
- Burnham in 4th won 3-2 at Wembley – with Flackwell sat in 5th.

Broadfields United v Oxhey Jets
Burnham v Reading City
Edgware & Kingsbury v Wallingford & Crowmarsh
Egham Town
v Windsor - Windsor beaten 0-3 by ‘port at Stag Meadow (crowd 151) sink back to last place behind ‘Jets’ on GD. Oxhey had their game at Hillingdon (vs Hilltop) Postponed – still waterlogged.

London Lions v Holyport
North Greenford United v Harefield United
Spelthorne Sports v Wokingham & Emmbrook
Virginia Water
v Hilltop
Wembley v Flackwell Heath
CCL-PS
Abbey Rangers v Tadley Calleva
Alton
v AFC Croydon Athletic
Balham v Badshot Lea
Banstead Athletic v Camberley Town
Colliers Wood United v Frimley Green
Fleet Town
v Horley Town
Guildford City v Knaphill
Raynes Park Vale v Jersey Bulls - 1st v 3rd - both RPV and Baggy Lea (in 2nd) won midweek – probably confirms these two will finish top two – 'Bulls' are 9 points behind BL with only 3 games left – so likely to stay at STEP05 for another term.

Redhill v Farnham Town
CCL-1
AFC Aldermaston v Langley @ Thatcham
Bagshot v Brook House @ Camberley
British Airways v Westside @ Bedfont
Eversley & California v Sandhurst Town - ’Fizzers’ beaten at home on Thursday by Berks County 1-2 - crowd was 138
– as above - looks like the season may be extended now to May - to enable some games to be re-arranged/spread out a bit for them
– in theory Sandhurst still have 10 games left to play but need to get these in before any end of season POs are scheduled.
- CCL have issued a few statements this week but sadly their fixture Bulletins have ‘dried up’ – no doubt as they ponder all of the re-arrangements required – must be a nightmare for the outgoing fixture secretary, especially with the numerous groundshares in this division.
- County stay top with 4 games left but Samurai in 2nd and 2 points behind won big at Spartans 4-0
– Depor in 3rd surprisingly lost at neighbouring ‘lodgers’ British Airways.

FC Deportivo Galicia v Bedfont @ Bedfont Sports
Hillingdon Borough v Berks County
Penn & Tylers Green
v CB Hounslow United
Spartans Youth v Molesey @ Northwood
Woodley United v Cove @ Rivermoor

HELL- P
Longlevens AFC v Royal Wootton Bassett Town
- Cribbs won the title with a 1-0 win at Wantage on Thursday evening – crowd was 263
HELL-1
Kidlington Res v Hartpury University
Shortwood United v Long Crendon
Stonehouse Town v Milton United

SSM-P
Aylesbury Vale Dynamos v London Colney
Colney Heath v Risborough Rangers
SSM-1
Langford v Amersham Town
London Tigers v Northampton Sileby Rangers @ Amersham
Northampton O.N.Chenecks v Holmer Green
Real Bedford FC v Thame United Reserves

WESS-P
Alresford Town v Portland United ‘Town’ managed only their 5th point of a miserable season, with a 1-1 draw on Thursday
WESS-1
Andover New Street v Newport (IoW) 1st v 2nd – ANS have a 7 point cushion – both sides have 2 games after this – so the title is theirs if they avoid defeat tomorrow – could be quite a turnout for this one?
Ash United v Whitchurch United
Downton v Fleet Spurs
Fawley AFC v Petersfield Town
Romsey Town v Andover Town

...didn't think they had that many games left anyway - relative to other STEP05/06 leagues - seems to all finish now on/around 25/04 - barring some League/County etc Cup Ties

... there's a few teams with about 4 games left in Div One and one (Fleetlands) with 5.

Fareham & Horndean both have 5 left in the Premier section.
