Stevenage player laid out by (presumably) a Newcastle supporter after the match.

I like the idea of a free hit sentence for an assault conviction.

The bruise will be gone in weeks, the criminal record pending for that prat will be there for a few years.

Brilliant to see the little club defeat the slightly bigger club. This is why you have to love the F.A Cup.

there is an idea mooted to stop replays in the f.a cup to regenerate interest in the competition... i imagine it would mean extra time and penalties...but why not bite the bullet and say that in the event of a draw after ninety minutes,if a lower league team is involved, the away team goes through?

Who does frimmers support? Spurs or Aldershot?
He spends so long on here I suspect young frimmers is a closet Reading fan.

Ludicrous ideas. Half the romance of this competition is that a small club can earn that lucrative replay, a reply that can guarantee a clubs survival for several years.

you mean if they got a draw away from home and were guaranteed a place in the next round it would be detrimental?

A lucrative replay against (say) Manchester United, is worth a lot more to smaller clubs than a next round tie away at Rochdale.

What?

At present, 40% of the gate receipts for an FA Cup tie go to each club, with 20% going to the FA.

Taking today's game as an example - a replay at St James' Park would be worth more financially to Stevenage than a poor draw in the next round (say Rochdale away).

The prize money for getting through the first few rounds is a pittance.

As opposed to the renumeration for winning the match on top of the receipts from the next game?

Because you'd get lower league teams playing with 10 defenders and stifling the game.
