Ridiculous if they have. Why not just sell him in the summer? Can only imagine (and/or hope, as a Liverpool follower) that the rumours Chelsea would throw Anelka into the deal are true, he'd a least be a decent foil for Suarez - Suarez signing confirmed this morning.

Apparently all promotional photos etc of Torres on the Liverpool site have been removed. Don't know how true that is.

Kenny Dalglish on Torres to/not to Chelsea: "We've not brought anyone in as a replacement for anyone else," said Dalglish, as he passed my desk on the way to the coffee machine. "Movement is part and parcel of football but the most important people at Liverpool Football Club are the ones who want to be here."

What won't be happening is Daniel Sturridge as a makeweight in the deal, as he is having a medical at Bolton.

Rumours also that Liverpool have moved for Ashley Young.

Aston Villa say they've not received a bid for Young and he's not for sale.

'arry says Spurs not looking to sign a striker and it'll be a quiet day for him. Cue Spurs bringing in three strikers then.

Ferris Liverpool make a £30m bid for Andy Carroll

^Not confirmed that it's from Liverpool. Confirmed is that Newcastle have rejected it.

My thoughts on that bid are - £30m for Carroll is insane, he has had 6 months in the Premier League. And, rejecting a £30m bid for Carroll is insane.

LFC bid for Carroll is 25m. Newcastle trying to set value by claiming 30m? Sparking an auction?
......
Whatever new owners' intentions, talk of #LFC "Moneyball" transfer strategy was always a red herring. £25m opening bid for Carroll is wild

You just know Torres will end up at Spurs along with Sturridge and Carroll or some mad sh*t like that.

Transfer deadline day is all about:

BBC deadline day as it happens text update (I am a cabbie and have just dropped off Messi at the Stadium of Light) etc

SSN from around 9:00pm as random reporters get very excited about weird lower league deals that may (or more likely will not go through) ‘we are now going live to our reporter outside Burton Albion who has heard that Steve Mangleflange is having a medical as we speak following a last minute transfer from Histon’ etc etc

Fun though.....better than talking about the latest graphs in a spreadsheet, or whatever you admin people do in the office.

A damp squib. Konchesky, Ayala, Suarez. Nothing new on Torres or Kes.

12.05 From bbcsport_david on Twitter: "West Ham want Shane Long but Reading director of football Nick Hammond tells me 'no deals of any consequence today, just a few kids coming in'."
