Below are the latest spread betting prices (21st June) for the Championship. I do some spread betting each year and I am just finalising some of my bets. To explain, if you BUY 20 pounds a point on West Ham then for every point above 75 they get, you would get 20 pounds. For every piint below 75 you would lose 20 pounds. If you sold West Ham, the price would be 73 and every point below this would win you 20 (and every point above lose you 20 pounds.

Place 6 hypothetical bets (3 buy bets, 3 sell bets) using the prices below in the next week or so, and we can see how we would have done at the end of the season.

Figured it is more for football obsessed people (and will have more of a qualified view maybe than those just having a punt on everything). I am quite keen to gauge opinion so would be interested to know some reasons behind some of the bets:

SF - what's your thinking behind Buy Boro and Palace?

leww - what makes you plump for Buy Derby?

Derby - well just the way they've acted already in the transfer market.

Frank Fielding, an awesome keeper - I don't know why Blackburn let him go!
Craig Bryson, the ex Killie captain - a box to box player, definatly what Derby need after Savage has gone. He'll do well there.

and also Nathan Tyson and Jamie Ward, their signings have potential I feel.

Ipswich would be too obvious a 'buy'

Interesting. I haven't seen anything of the Killie player. Like Fielding and Ward though and think Tyson is a good addition.

BUY:

Derby: Better than their points tally showed last season, i think they are top 10 next season.
Pompey: Had a season adjusting to this level, will push on next.
Peterboro: Not as bad as some others down the bottom; will pick up points at home.

SELL:

Forest: Will need to readjust to life with a new manager
Millwall: Over-valued; they had their season of surprise last season and will struggle next
Ipswich: It will take a while to bed in all these new players and to get the blend right; without Wickham, they will be much weaker.

What is the Millwall optimism on here based on? I don't see it myself..

btw - I forgot about Shackell - I am sold on Buy Derby to be honest.

just guessing really, I'm sure I'd look into it more if I was actually going to risk cash, although I definitely think Palace are priced low

Forest - there or thereabouts for a while and a decent new manager
Saints - likely that them or Brighton will do well and I've heard a rumble about Brighton losing a couple of players
Watford - often seem to defy expectations and carrying on in a similar mould

Sell:
Coventry - usually toss, could be in a relegation this season
Ipswich - been under achieving for a while and I expect that to continue
Brizzle - bit of a mid-table team who could struggle.
