STFC on Oxford Pitch

by Big Foot » 16 Aug 2011 08:41

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-14521560

Vandals broke into Oxford United's Kassam Stadium and burnt 'STFC' - the initials of local rivals Swindon Town FC - into the pitch.

The men were captured on CCTV on Friday night, police said.

A spokesman for the Swindon club said it "deplored" the actions of those involved and would fully support the police in their investigations.

Thames Valley Police are studying CCTV footage and working with the club to catch those responsible.

BBC Radio Oxford's Nathan Cooper said: "It looks like they have almost set fire to the pitch and made the lettering in the penalty area."

The incident comes in the build up to Oxford's match at Swindon on Sunday - the first derby meeting of the two clubs since 2002.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Thames Valley Police.

Why LOL? I am sure that any right minded individual would be appalled at this. Imaging the meltdown if something similar happened at the Mad Stad?

There would only be outrage if Kes got in and burned "Fleece FC" into the pitch.

Sorry to break it to you, TB, but it's actually funny.

Pissing profanities in the snow is funny, as is doing something similar with flower bulbs. This, however, is just plain wrong.

Didn't someone paint a statue outside the Kassam not so long ago? I think they painted it pink or summat.

It's not a hard ground to break in to, you only have to climb over a car park fence at one end of the ground.

Fair fvcks, shame they couldn't have come up with something a bit more witty but I guess they've made their point elegantly enough.

It'd be funny if it was done with paint, or something that doesn't actually involve damaging the pitch seriously.
