Tom Bender - Accrington Stanley (broken neck?)

by Royal Rother » 04 Oct 2011 21:01

Game tonight held up for 20 minutes whilst he received treatment on the pitch after a collision.

Suspected broken neck.

Game now abandoned.

Fingers crossed for the lad.

It could not only end his career but leave him in a wheelchair for life or and fingers crossed he can make a full recovery and continue with his career. Given the game has been abandoned you have to fear for his future. Bless him he's only 18 and a member of the Wales u 21's and right at the start of his career.

This is terrible news. I loved him in Futurama.

Reports on twitter, he is conscious and in a stable condition.

Also shame on the mirror for putting a picture of the incident straight up!

Just on SSN, he's been given the all clear. Just suffering from concussion.

I think 'the all clear' is a reasonable description when it was first feared he'd broken his neck, tbh.

Unless you had an x-ray to hand as he hit the floor, you can only have gone by the reports, shirley?

saw the incident this morning, and when the commentators joke "he's gone down like he's been shot", well in this case it really did look like he'd been shot.

Well well, these things need to be taken seriously.
Not that long ago there was a Norwegian footballer who wound up paralyzed after a similar incident.

Player before his injury: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sF7W-UpIMvM&feature=related - very skillful.

Incident:

The player today:

I hardly think these kind of incidents are to be made fun of, it could happen to anyone really.
You could be riding your bicycle down the road, and boom, next thing you know there you are.

How does he see where he's going?
