"Iconic Manager" for Notts Forest

by phil in cornwall » 16 Jul 2012 13:25

What a laugh ... the new owners of Notts Forest immediately sacked the manager and said they wanted "an iconic manager". Now they are interviewing Mick McCarthy! With Hoddle waiting in the wings ...

You couldn't make it up. Maybe they meant 'ironic'?

Maybe Nottm Forest, after prostituting themselves to 10 potential candidates, will eventually end up giving it to the 1st team coach and then say that he was their first choice all along......

I believe Steve Cotterill recently became available. Have they considered giving him the job?

Rumour in nottingham is that Billy Davies was seen at the ground today with a big smile on his face.

Still Ironic.

Nottingham Forest hold fresh talks with former England boss Glenn Hoddle, as they resume their search for a new manager, reports the Nottingham Post.

:| He’s a good manager. And there’s no such team as Notts Forest.

Heard an interesting rumour today at work from a Forest fan. Before I begin let me clearly state that I do not claim to be ITK, just passing on what I have heard today!

Steve Coppell is to be appointed as DoF with Sean O'Driscoll as head coach. This might come as a shock to most as the pair were only put in to post earlier this summer and are yet to play a competitive game. But apparantely Coppell has fallen out with the Crawley owners over potential transfer targets ans O'Driscoll is highly regarded after his work last year coaching the Forest first team and playing a huge part in their upturn in fortunes. The rumour also seems to be also backed up by local media reports here.

Not iconic, but a very good manager that plays a good passing game. Wasn't he at Forest for the final few months of last season to save Steve Cotterill's job? If the new owners give him time and don't interfere then I would back him to do a good job there.

To be fair majority of forest fans believe he was the reason in their change of fortunes.

Totally forgot he was still at Crawley. That will be a quiz question in years to come.

Coppell to manage Crawley?

it's a bit like saying you've got dates lined up with Emanuelle Beart, Kate Winslet and Anne Hathaway and then you show up with the pretty girl from the post office

I said when we played Forest that they'd get rid of Cotterill and appoint O'Driscoll at the end of the season - not quite how I imagined it'd happen though!
