The Football Supporters' Federation needs your support to help bring down the price of tickets, with our Twenty's Plenty for Away Tickets Petition – www.fsf.org.uk/20plenty

We're calling upon football clubs at all levels of the game to recognise and reward the amazing contribution of away fans by getting together to agree an across the board price cap on away match tickets of £20 (£15 for concessions).

What’s the point in a petition, you might ask? Each signature on the Twenty’s Plenty petition triggers an email to your club, telling them you want to see something done about the cost of attending football, as well as an email to the Premier League telling them the same.

We understand that football is unaffordable for many and this is especially true for away fans who, aside from match tickets, must contend with spiralling food, drink and travel costs. There has been a tremendous groundswell of opinion lately with campaigns popping up across the country and Twenty’s Plenty will try to harness that energy and discontent.

I think costs involved in attending football need to be looked at as a whole and not just a specific area like away match tickets.

Tickets, food & drink, club shirt, parking etc are all overpriced and should be reviewed. then again as long as fans buy this stuff then why should they reduce the prices? (personally I buy a home season ticket and that is about it)

If an away match ticket to a london game was £40 then the day out including transport, foot & drink etc would probably total around £100. If this campaign is successful and gets the ticket reduced to £20 then my total day out is still £80 and probably wouldn't make much of a difference in whether I decide to go or not. (not that it is all about me mind)

Probably a separate discussion but I also wonder how much w8 these online petitions carry anyway. in the past signing up to stuff or attending something as a protest vote carried a lot more meaning as you had to put more effort in, nowadays you just ckick a button and it's done, and the internet is saturated with online petitions too.

if I worked somewhere that was involved in such a popular industry like football and I received results of an online petition I am not sure quite how seriously I would take it

very little because the response to them is usually pathetic.

The big one pushing for a return of terracing, an idea that seems very popular among fans, only got about 15000 signatures. That's probably fewer than one fan in a thousand in this country.

Bet there are a few people reading this thread, will sign the petition, but still spend £89 on tickets for Fulham and West Ham, As long as fans pay the high prices things will never change.

The rule is that away fans can't pay more than home fans.

The premise behind this campaign is that because away fans create the atmosphere and have additional obstacles of travel time and cost that they should pay a maximum rate - which although it might end up being less than home fans pay would also apply to those same home fans when they travel away themselves.
