From a fans perspective, reduction of prices should NEVER be considered a bad thing, are you a fan of football TMD? 8)

I agree, reduction of prices is a must to get working class fans back, along with other things, standing etc.

What I don't agree with is paying full wack just because I support United. F*ck Cardiff, Pompey, West Brom and Barnsley. They should pay the same as what I’d have to pay if it was United v Chelsea.

The FA are not reducing tickets here for the fans, they’re doing it to ensure that they make as much money as they can.

Yep - but that's the only reason they're playing the semi-finals at Wembley in the first place. FA Cup semi-finals should be held at a neutral ground like Villa Park or OT, just as they always were, and save Wembley for the final itself.

Greed, but nothing will be done about that.
It does take the gloss away, losing a semi was always about missing out on Wembley as much as being dumped out of the cup.

Not until they've paid off the massive bill for Wembley, it won't.

And in the same way winning a semi was all about going to Wembley - not about going there again 4 weeks later.

The luck of the draw...

In this "giant killing year" it is notable that the semi-finalist sides have knocked out the grand total of 4 premiership teams between them.

West Brom could win it without meeting a premiership side.

BARNSLEY
Simon Davey's side proved their 2-1 win over Liverpool at Anfield in the fifth round was no fluke by beating holders Chelsea 1-0 at Oakwell.

Despite hovering four points above the Championship relegation zone, the Tykes will not fear anyone in their first appearance in the semi-finals since 1927.

Path to the semi-finals:
Third round: Barnsley 2-1 Blackpool
Fourth round: Southend 0-1 Barnsley
Fifth round: Liverpool 1-2 Barnsley
Quarter-finals: Barnsley 1-0 Chelsea

CARDIFF
The FA Cup has provided a welcome distraction for Cardiff's faltering bid to reach the Championship play-offs and their problems off the pitch.

Bluebirds manager Dave Jones has urged his team to make their own piece of FA Cup history in their first semi-final appearance since their famous Cup victory of 1927.

Path to the semi-finals:
Third round: Chasetown 1-3 Cardiff
Fourth round: Hereford 1-2 Cardiff
Fifth round: Cardiff 2-0 Wolves
Quarter-finals: Middlesbrough 0-2 Cardiff

PORTSMOUTH
As the Premier League's solitary representative left in the competition, Portsmouth will be favourites to go all the way.

Pompey boss Harry Redknapp will certainly fancy his chances of taking Portsmouth to their first FA Cup final since 1939.

Path to the semi-finals:
Third round: Ipswich 0-1 Portsmouth
Fourth round: Portsmouth 2-1 Plymouth
Fifth round: Preston 0-1 Portsmouth
Quarter-finals: Manchester United 0-1 Portsmouth

WEST BROM
West Brom have a fine FA Cup tradition after winning the competition five times and appearing in the final on 10 occasions.

Albion manager Tony Mowbray will claim promotion is his main objective but the Baggies are now second favourites to lift the trophy.

Path to the semi-finals:
Third round: Charlton 1-1 West Brom
Third round replay: West Brom 2-2 Charlton (West Brom won 4-3 on penalties)
Fourth round: Peterborough 0-3 West Brom
Fifth round: Coventry 0-5 West Brom
Quarter-finals: Bristol Rovers 1-5 West Brom

You can hardly complain about paying full price to see United, Aggro. If you don’t want the ticket, someone else will snap it up. Simple law of supply and demand.

The magic of the cup is alive and well. About 10,000 more fans turned up to see Middlesbrough yesterday than against Reading last week. Either that or Cardiff are a bigger attraction.

£10 a ticket and a quarter final against a lower league club giving your team a GREAT chance of reaching the semi's certainly is a better game than watching a drab legaue game against a poor side.

If anything the semi's should be played at the Millenium Stadium, then the final at Wembley

What's most amusing of all is that Kes thinks comments like that are going to hurt or upset anyone, or that he's somehow scored a point. Bless!

Even if (like there has been) a Manchester v Newcastle semi, which should be played at Elland Rd?

Wouldn't be big enough I'd have thought.

The only one in the North if England that would be is City's ground, don't think having 25-30,000 Man Utd fans going there would be practicle!

Shame they can't decide once the semi's have taken shape. I mean if WBA draw Pompey then the Emirates would have been a good venue.

The FA Cup semis should NEVER EVER be played at Wembley. However if it means the big 4 getting knocked out early on every year then i'm all for it!

It'll be great to have a first final since 1987 without one of the big 4 in it and the first since 1975 without one of the big 6 (the other two being Everton and Spurs in my book).

Here's hoping for a Barnsley v Cardiff final with Barnsley taking the honours..... where's the proposal for a Champions League place now!
