According to Wikipedia, Sunderland are the worst top flight side ever over a full season

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_r ... and#Points

so probably will be Derby shortly.

I'd say it's actually Swindon - their whole demeanour of cluelessness and being out of their depth.

Sunderland/Derby may have fewer points over a season, but I think that's a reflection on how the gap between the top and bottom teams has grown over the years. Swindon were absolute pants but still picked up a few points because they had the likes of Oldham around and there weren't massive wages affecting overseas players. The playing field was a lot more level then and they still fell off it.

Swindon also conceded a whopping 100 goals (42 games) during their season in the Premiership

Peter Reid spent £18m on Tore Andre Flo, Marcus Stewart, Stephen Wright and Matt Piper

I thought Boothroyd's Watford were worse than Taylor's but that's probably because I paid more attention to them, what with being in the same division and all. That said, we failed to beat them didn't we?

An additional LOL at Sunderland having two contenders for worst Premier League team.

With 11 points and 16 goals so far, Derby have a good shot at Sunderland’s unwanted Premier League records, but looking at that list, Derby might even ‘surpass’ Stoke as the worst top flight team in modern history.

Since we've been in the Premier League, Charlton Athletic under Les Reed were the worst I've seen. Truly dreadful.

Derby could actually tie the record for fewest wins in an English football league season, which is held by Loughborough (1 win in 1899-00). In that same season, Loughborough scored 18 league goals, which is also a record low – Derby are on 16, so shoul, hopefully, overhaul this one. Sunderland’s ‘effort’ of 15 is the fewest points in a season since 3-points/win was introduced, with Derby currently on 11.

1984/5 - Stoke 17 points. 91 goals conceded, 24 goals scored.

The players of that team had a big party when Sunderland beat their record.

Boothroyd and Taylor's Watford teams were standard teams that had ground their way to the playoffs and were never good enough.

I think Derby, if only because one poster argued blind that they might do well this season on the day of the Play Off final.

One day soon, we're going to see a promoted team not win a match all season. Could that be next year?

I'd say it won't happen to be honest.

The Swindon Premiership record is a right laugh!

Did not manage a win untill 24th November 5 wins all season, but managed the double over QPR.

Leeds, Aston Villa, Newcastle, Everton, Southampton and Liverpool all put at least 5 goals past them in one game.

Remind me who a third of Bolton's total number of League wins this season are against....

A number of future and ex-Royals in there - Sanchez, Maskell, Hammond, Scott, Viveash, Bodin

A big targetman, Scott didn't bring a lot of pace to the side, and he always looked knackered.

One of many reasons to laugh at Newcastle United this season:

Derby County 1 Newcastle United 0
Newcastle United 2 Derby County 2

Setting myself up for a murking come early May.
