Had a quick scroll down the ages on the Memorial at Anfield back in March - very thought provoking, especially considering the youngest to die was the same age as me at the time.

Awful seeing all those names. And they were probably all actual ticket holders.

Still, it was the fault of the police.

Although sad (still can't help thinking that it was a load of ticketless scousers trying to get in that were just as much to blame as the Police) at least it gives Liverpool the opportunity to wallow in self pity for a day.

When’s Ken Bigley’s anniversary?

Man Utd have had their turn in wallowing in their own self pity earlier in the season.

The demographic of football crowds has changed hugely in the last 20 years. The proportion of teenagers and 20-somethings is far lower, whilst the proportion of 40-somethings is increasing rapidly.

I'd love to see the average age of matchday crowd today compared to the 70s and 80s.

Has increased rapidly and is still increasing.

That said, its not the same in the Championship and the clubs with youngest fan bases tend to be the newly promoted ones.

Funny isn’t, how anonymously people will act in a way so different to how (one assumes) they act in real life. And also how our experience or otherwise of terrible events shapes our feelings towards them. TBM wants some jokes about Hillsborough; but if his brother had been crushed to death that day, would he want to share in the ‘hilarity’?

Pitiful ‘comedy’ on this thread.

Still very sad. The thought that they were like us just supporting the club they loved and they didn't come home.
The season we won promotion was the first time I'd been to Hillsborough and it felt strange sitting in that end of the ground. The thought of those that died was very much in my mind. Remembering people being crushed on the concrete we were standing on, being lifted up to the upper tier etc.

RIP
