I wouldn't be fukking surprised if he does go. He managed to resist the call of Scotland, will he resist the lure of Hearts? He's disloyal to any club, I'd hope Hearts will realise what a w@nker McGhee is and not go for him.

I'm not sure he resisted the call of Scotland. In fact he publicly stated his interest, they just decided to go with Burley instead.

As a 'well follower i obviously hope he stays because when all is said and done McGhee's strength (rather like Coppell) has always been in getting the very best out of supposedly average players and far exceeding expectations. History however suggests that if Hearts are serious in their intentions he'll be off like a shot.

Is it really dumping having got them into Europe with no great expenditure on players.
Hearts is a club vying for the 3rd biggest status in Scotland whereas Motherwell is and always will be a small club.
It's a bit like...would you choose a club that has been in FA Cup finals and spent many years at the top level such as Leicester or an overachieving small town club like Reading that could never make it to the top level?
Oh....bigger clubs don't always stick around the top level.
All credit to Mark for what he has done for the 'well (always my favourite Scottish club since the days of Ian St John who my son is named after,Ian that is,not St John) and he will do what is right for himself professionally as well as financially even if he might not be the best judge of that-presumably that's why he said in the article that he would need to think twice about any move and perhaps he should think more than twice.

How McGhee didn't get manager of the year in Scotland is beyond me. Winning the Scottish First Division at a canter is child's play compared with what McGhee has achieved this season. Motherwell regularly field a team in which eight or nine players hail from within about ten to twelve miles of the ground.

I too hope he stays. he's had bad experiences chasing the money, so he may decide to sit tight. And let's face it. The Hearts job has to be the most toxic of poisoned chalices anywhere in British football.

How do you know he's a grown man? He could be a small boy pretending, like Tom Hanks in Big.

That would be the same Mark McGhee that moved us on a stage? Spacey, you're a plastic I'm afraid. You're entirely oblivious of our real history. History, that meant we were stuck in Division 4 for most of our life. Sorry, I realise, that it might not equate with your exceedingly blinkered, narrow minded, view of the club. but Mark McGhee was the catalyst for where we are now.

Yeah, he left, Yeah he said he was staying. Fckuing get over it. McGhee>Madejski

It seems he may have learnt his lesson:

Mark McGhee on the BBC Website "It smacked of what I did earlier in my managerial career. When a bigger job came up, I went."

"I was at the door of the plane and would have been the last passenger on board, but I turned round and said 'I can't do this'.

"We're in Europe and I always wanted that on my C.V. It's certainly not about money either.

"If it had been a financial decision I'd be on my way to Vilnus right now.

"Hearts was a bigger job, but I would never say it was a better job."

Division 4? How's that? As far as I'm aware, we've only been in Division 4 for about 3 seasons.

And anyway, I never said he was a bad manager, just a disloyal one.

Stuck in Division 3
We only started playing in Div 4 the season after RFC's Centenary season back in 1971.

So your history may need a bit of revision as well.

Ignore Spacey, he's a total hypocrite and still secretly obsesses over Pardew. McGhee was a fine manager and going to Scotland has revitalised his career. I think seeing out a second season and getting some European experience will enhance his future prospects. Right move.

So McGhee is the Motherwell manager, Hearts showed an interest, owing to his success, Motherwell rejected the move, McGhee rejected the move. Complete non-story then Spacey.

Division 4 didn't even exist until 1958.
