The Official Will QPR sink or swim thread

Will be extremely interesting to see how QPR manage to do next year in my opinion. On one hand, you could see the money they have invested giving a squad that could be head and shoulds better than anyone else's. I think the signing of Cerny is a fantastic signing based on the performance he had against Reading at the end of last term, and some of the players including the Argie today, Im sure will fill the Rangers fans with confidence.

On the other hand to the many millions they are supposed to have at their disposal, I feel the non playing staff could play against them. For starters, QPR were signing players when they didnt even have a manager at the helm. This to me reaks of the people from the business side of the club getting involved in the football side, which as history has shown, results in disasters. A prime example of this would be Romanov and Hearts. To add to this, they recruited Iain Dowie who has managed to string together only 6 months of half decent management in his 4 year career.

I am torn as to whether to put money on them this pre-season, so this thread is for everyone to have their say on it.

Discuss.

No, a vote.

And there should be a question mark and inverted commas in the thread title.

I think QPR won't be swimming, but walking on the water. Loads of money, good players coming in and next year will be in the Premiership.

I have always liked any team that plays in blue and white - so I say skip happily along the water.

Have they actually spent much money yet?

The only signing of note I can rememer is Hudson from Palace. I know there is a long way to go but if thats a sign of their intent I'm not sure they're setting themselves up as the Chelsea of the Championship.

Dowie's actually said he doesn't want to bring in too many players. I think the bookies have gone slightly overboard making them outright favourites, they could very well prove me wrong, but as far as I can see, they have an average manager and no outstanding players.

In terms of momentum they finished last season fairly strongly so from that alone i'd have placed them certainly as play -off contenders (although the beauty of the Championship is that you could make a case for virtually every team as a play-off candidate).

Added to that, despite what some might say, i think Dowie is a good manager at this level and with the financial clout that is available if needed then I'd be pretty surpised if they're not fighting it out for an automatic spot come the end of the season.

I actually agree with Dowie being a pretty decent manager (I think I've even admitted to this in the past! ).

I like a lot of what he says, and the way he likes to get a team organised, but I think he's made some poor career decisions in the past.

They've just signed an Italian lad on loan from Fiorentina, sounds quite promising. I truly hope they do flop cos my mates a qpr fan and I hate him :?
