Best player in the Championship

by Seal » 20 Aug 2008 09:16

I was discussing the Championship with a Plymouth fan at work this morning. he was singing its praises, I was saying that the league itself is complete pony. He challenged me on this, so I then asked him, "who's the best player in the Championship then?"

This stumped him, and got me thinking, at there really any decent players in this league?

So far I've thought McFadden could stand out, plus our very own Matejovsky & Bikey, but who else is any good?

Larsson at Brum (very surprised he's not moved - thought he'd be ideal man to replace Bentley at Blackburn) and James Beattie (on his day) could both play for top ten PL sides. There are proabably some decent goalkeepers as well, but I can't think of any at the moment...

Our office list now stands at:-

McFadden
Larsson
Bikey
Matejovsky
Doyle
Ridgewell
Ebanks-Blake
Eagles
Tonge
Sharp
Beattie
Kightly
Parejo
Hoolahan
Haynes
Carlsley

Does seem pretty weak really. Gives me more confidence we can get out of this league...even without signing any more players.

And I think you missed the comedy class at school, but there you go.

Since when did having a sense of humour involve liking sh1te gags?

You must be fun in the pub.

Shite gags are the essence of comedy.

It was merely a tongue in cheek comment as half the hobnobbers think he's the next Pele and the other half think he's total dross. But there you go.

If your mate tells a sh*te joke do you give him a dressing down? You must be fun in the pub.

RidgeweLOL

There's a Spanish/Basque lad at Swansea who got signed for peanuts. Girlfriend's dad emailed me asking what his goal was like on Saturday.

Well, he was meant to be the next Basque superstar or something when he was 18.

Rarely happens. Only hang around with funny people.

Bored of this now. Back to the thread, appears that there really isn't much to fear in this league, I suddenly feel a whole lot better about the coming season.

Ridgewell's a League 1 player at best. Watch the goals Brum let in last year, he made Ivar look solid.

John Walters is another name.

That little left winger at Wednesday has caught the eye in recent weeks.

Forgive me but Matejovsky has been pretty 5h1t thus far. Everytime I've seen him he hasn't taken the game by the scruff of the neck and has failed to dominate in midfield.

Matejovsky SHOULD be 1 of the best players in the division, whether he will be remains to be seen. Can't gauge it on a half fit 30mins at Forest.
