Well, that didn't last.

Doyle and Hunt passed fit for the Republic, who just kicked off.

Doyles barely touched the ball, although its reassuring to see Hunts corners are just as shit when playing for his country. 0-0 at half time, ROI had a clear penalty turned down.

With 85' gone in the Montenegro-RoI game, the text commentator I can't believe we are five minutes from the end and Trapattoni hasn't made any changes. Especially when you consider this XI started against Georgia at the weekend. There will be a few club managers tearing their hair out at present!

Notable scores/results:

Wins for Belarus and Ukraine in England's group

Holland 2-0 up in Macedonia

Romania win by just 1 goal to 0 in the Faroe Islands

Klose completes his hat-trick in the 83rd minute to salvage a 3-3 draw for Germany in Finland (who nearly qualified for Euro 08)

N Ireland holding Czech Rep at half-time, Denmark holding Portugal away

Poland only 1-0 up in San Marino at half-time (I presume)

Switzerland fall behind against Luxembourg  before equalising, still 1-1

Basically it seems like the days of murking the minnows are over, apart from Bosnia being 6-0 up against Estonia.

N Ireland get a good 0-0 draw with the Czechs but it looks like a huge task to get near the top two in their group.

Mind you, how on earth did Luxumbourg let Switzerland score?

They could have been playing against FFF in the Euros and still not scored

Holland only beat Macedonia 2-1 which puts Scotland's (2-1 away win Iceland) result in perspective.

Lithuania beat Austria, so maybe Lithuania have a decent player or two coming through.

Had a nice tip on them, backed them at 7/4. Good night all round, singles and doubles on England & Lithuania.
