I'd say he knew exactly what he was trying to do.
How often it would actually come off is questionable, and so maybe that's what you mean by luck, but that's a hell of goal.

Yeah, that's precisely what I meant. I didn't mean luck as in "it hit him and went in".

TheMaraudingDog There is no way that he aimed for the top corner. In those situations you just try to get as much on the ball as possible and see what happens.
The people who seem to think it was a great goal are those that don’t play football whilst those of us who appreciate the skill and the luck also are regular players.

He may not have aimed for the top corner but he certainly knew what he was doing......luck, to me, is when you didn't mean to do something
I hear what you're saying re: "great goal" and this is similar to the Zola goal that he scored against Norwich - yes very nice to watch and you think "how the hell did they do that" but are they really "great goals".....to me a great goal involves lots of passing or 1 man taking on the entire team etc.
