A footballer has earned himself a place in the record books after being given the fastest red card in the history of the game.

Chippenham Town striker David Pratt, 21, was sent off just THREE SECONDS after the kick-off.

He got his marching orders for lunging at an opposing player straight during a match against non-league rivals Bashley, in Hampshire.

Referee Justin Amey showed Mr Pratt a straight red for the dangerous tackle on Chris Knowles.

I thought Sheffield Utd had that record against us?

Indeed, that was after coming on as a sub. Soggy's article says that the guy's sending off was 3 secs after kick off.

It's not the fastest a player has been sent off from coming on. It's the earliest a player has ever been sent off in a game. just poor wording.

I witnessed Vinny Jones get a yellow card after about 4 seconds from kick off for Chelsea against Sheff Utd.

Stuart Pearce should have been sent off for England after just 2 seconds. He runs down the wing and clotheslines a player. Got away with it though.

Didn't they start tustling before a throw in? Technically, the clock doesn't stop in football, the ref adds a bit of time later. So, if Gillespie was sent off more than 3 seconds after he stepped onto the pitch, that would be longer. Whether or not the ball is on the pitch is irrelevant, I'd say.

My eldest's team manager was at the game. He'd decided to go to have a "break" while visiting his sister and her family.

An awful, two footed, all out lunge. Mark is rather enjoying his "I was there to see history" moment!

Given some of my relatives, a couple of hours away from them at a game is a god send if they are anything similar! The poor guy couldn't really avoid the family Christmas get together!
