Currently estimated to be losing £90M a year.

Cannot pay the Premier League the £35M it owes, cannot pay the SPL the £3M it owes. Daily Record claiming that at least 1 SPL club will go under if Setanta go into Administration, possibly more.

Hopefully that one SPL club will be Celtic then. Well, can always hope.

Can't stand the channel, so not that bothered. Will Premier League clubs lose out, or have they received their money courtesy of the PL and it's them that will feel the pinch of the missed payments, or the other way around?

Either of the Old Firm will do. We can dream, I suppose.

They both deserve each other.

To be fair to the FA, they already have a contingency plan in place with ITV. They have also ensured that half of the money owed has been paid up already

Setanta fail to make another payment and has now lost the rights to show Premier League matches.

The package they had goes up for auction again and England away games are given to ITV

Not really as it's the Premier league they owe the money to. They do cover the FA cup as well but as we are always out at round 3 that won't affect us either.

i think hence, hence ESPNs interest in them. Ultimately ESPN are only interested in the Premier League rights. They can buy setanta and get them or they can let setanta fail and then bid for them with everyone else

they seem to have chosen the later

I think that's only 2/3 of the story! I agree, that will be a big interest, but if ESPN go after them, they not only get the prem rights (although dont these reside with FSC in the US?) they also get NASN in the UK and the UK rights to UFC, which has a lot of viewers as well.

ESPN does show alot of football through the internet, u21, confederations cup, football league playoffs.. but I read they lost the Champions League to FSC and FSC has the FA Cup I believe... so I dunno seems a bit silly for them to let the CL go. but Setanta shows SPL, Blue Square, and some Premier and Championship (I believe? chi or someone?) and I was thinking about getting it.. because we don't really have a channel as wholesome as Sky. I am pretty sure FSC (Fox Soccer cHannel) owns England national team matches and they stick every one on PPV no matter how insiginificant. :/

Sweet, what happens to ESPN America now?

I see they're stopping taking subs immediately but programmes will stop soon, I'd like to think ESPN America will be through sky as ESPN are going with them for their footy output. It'd be nice if ESPN Classic could get a bit more of the stuff they show in the US now too

Was it the FA who signed the deal with them, the same FA who signed ITV digital?

No, it wasn't. ITV Digital was signed up by the Football League.
