Not sure I'd know how to cope to be honest.

Would be like us getting relagated then losing 7-1 at home to Wycombe.

One of my best mates is a Norwich fan, but I can't bring myself to give him any grief.

Norwich fans are a fairly decent bunch. They got 25k+ today for a league one game. Their club died a little bit today.

Feel really sorry for them. Thoroughly nice bunch last season at their ground, all wishing us well in the play offs and rooting for us getting promotion.

Great support too. Every ticket sold for home fans this season again, apparently. Today though is shocking. When you're a favourite for promotion and then that!

Two Narj fans ran on the pitch and threw their season tickets into the dugout at 5-0, before being ejected.

First game of the season, 40 minutes of football, 5 goals conceded. Banned fromr the ground. £400.

LOL

Crazy behavour today. Forest fan throwing his shoe at Y26 and not getting it back. Then they beat their own fans up. One dude flew at least 7 flights of steps trying to get to one of his fellow supporters, and then a group of 5 went over the top of the row in front!

Good times.

This is a major LOL. LOL @ any result which needs to be spelled out on the vidiprinter (S-E-V-E-N). I've always thoroughly disliked Norwich for purely irrational reasons; winning the last ever game at EP the swines, that last minute winner against us assisted by referee Neale Barry a few years back, and on my only visit to Carrow Road (back in the days of Pards, we won) a teenage female Norwich fan offered me her NCFC shirt after the game (sadly she was wearing something else underneath). They wear a yellow kit which I always think just screams look at us and there is something about Norwich City FC which just insists upon itself.

It is also an opportune moment to bring up this little beaut: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_8JLkwzpd0

I'm wondering if this is the worst result any side has ever had in my lifetime. 7-1 at home in the first game of the season against a side you would be expecting to beat comfortably. The only rivals I can think of are:

Leicester 0-5 Bolton (first game of season and Leicester were relegated by a street)

Celtic 0-3 Inveress Caledonian Thistle

West Brom 2-4 Woking

It's only one game but I can't see Brian Gunn ever winning back the faith and respect of the fans.

Remember watching us cream Watford 4-1 then hearing that on the ole EP terraces.

I've completely missed your point about 'unexpected' with the above, but hey.

Reading 6-0 West Ham? Being spanked by Premiership debutants, after a fairly good previous season? Ok not as bad.

Man Utd getting spanked by Saints in the top flight? that was pretty embarrassing...

Err, Norwich (again) crumbling 5/6-0 to Fulham when a win would have kept them in the Prem?

Millwall 0-6 Rotherham. Opening day match of the 02/03 division one season. Millwall had a pretty decent team and had lost in the play-offs the year before.

Wasn't there an element of pay protest about that performance though?

No one's mentioned Reading 0 Bristol Rovers 6 and it should have been 10! There fans deserve better fantastic support year in year out to be spanked 7-1 at home on the opening day is the stuff of nightmares.

Everyone has bad results, but it's the opening day, lower league, thing that must make it so much worse.

It's a new start, a blank sheet of paper, and all supporters goes there with the highest hopes - especially in a lower league where they *should* do well.

As reality checks go this is about as big as they come!

And let's not forget this was against your "small time" local rivals who were spanked 5-0 I think that last time they met.

Some of the defending was proper old skool comedy club.
