Benitez out?!

by Big Foot » 20 Oct 2009 21:45

Defeat on Sunday to the Mancs would be 5 straight defeats and 10 points behind United. Surely he'd be given the boot then? Hope not!

The sooner the club get shot of the Americans the sooner they can build something.

This season they are going to fail to make the top 4

The Premiership is already down to the usual tedious 2 horse race so thanks to Rafa for at least trying to make something exciting at the top end for SKY to drool over

he won't get sacked yet though as the fans still back him

Did I really hear Keys correctly last night when I thought he said Benitez has signed 67 players for Liverpool over the years? I hope not for his sake because when you remove just one of them from his team, they can't win :|

Seems a bit on the ridiculous side though so I probably misheard - still if his only match-winning signing is Torres then you have to question all the others...

It's not improbable - my flatmate's 'partner' said that between Benitez and Houllier, they'd signed nearly 20 right backs/right wing backs between them.

Both of them actually.

   No wonder you have to focus on signing stats of a club you don't follow to get to sleep. Beats counting sheep I s'pose!

I'm fairly sure that the first Lyons goal should have been disallowed cos Reina was impeded when he was trying to get back to his line after punching the ball out. I know he still got back to block the ball, but if he had got back sooner, he might have been able to catch it properly rather than blocking it.

not from the clips I 've seen. Keepers get too much protection as it is anyway...

Maybe if your boys could defend (esp. the rapily declining Carragher) the problem wouldn't have been there.

Lyon are a very good side, and seem to have quickly accommodated to losing Juninho and Benzema over the summer. Liverpool are going to have to buck their ideas up (ie, get Torres, Gerrard and Mascherano on the pitch together) if thery're to qualify for the next round.

I wouldn't be surprised if Benitez has signed 67 players - he seems to bring in 2/3 duds for every 1 good player. And yet still, take out FT & SG and they look little more than average (as against Sudnerland).

You could see the Lyon forward deliberately smashing his shoulder into Reina.

I think that's an interesting take on it Spacey. I'd have been surprised to see it chalked off.

Can you explain to me how 5 points seperating the top 5 can be defined as the 'usual tedious 2 horse race'. I think this is one of the most interesting premier league seasons for years. No one can keep a clean sheet, everyone is getting beat and no one looks dominant.

Liverpool being mid table just makes it even better.
