No strength in depth whatsoever. In terms of best XI, I think it's as good as Benitez has had it, perhaps with the exception of the loss of Alonso, but the rest are awful.

Dissapointingly, yes. He can't have much longer.

Have said for a while now that they are a two man team. Gerrard and Torres, without them they are awful. They only have one world class striker, whereas the other top 3 have at least 2.

Man Utd - Berba and Rooney
Arsenal - Van Persie and Eduardo
Chelsea - Drogba and Anelka

Maybe not but he is far better than Vorinin/N'Gog

On this - I read a stat last week that showed that PPG-wise, Liverpool are not actually signficantly worse off when these players are missing, in fact iirc, yesterday's defeat is their first where Torres has played and Gerrard hasn't.

One could also argue that Berbatov has not been world class for 18 months.

I wouldn't argue with that TBH.

Are the deluded "in Rafa we trust" brigade still trusting in Rafa?

I read somewhere that Rafa had signed 20 right backs/wing backs since taking over.

Liverpool's defence is on the whole perfectly good, its in attack that Benitez has to look at his transfer record and ask what has gone wrong. Torres, Kuyt and Voronin is not a great return on five years of trying to win the league.

Johnson
Degen
Dossena
Arbeloa
Kromkamp

I think the problem with these stats for the big clubs is that they include speculative nominal purchases of academy players, but I think the five above are the only ones that have impacted on the first team (although I've probably missed an obvious one knowing me).

silas can obviously name them all though, I await with excitement.
