I see that France have left out Nasri and Benzema, whilst bringing in a few uncapped players. I know that Benzema hasn't had a great season, but thought those two would be picked ahead of untried players.

He's a funny one, Domenech. I've always been under the impression that the French fans have been wanting rid of him for ages.

Totti's retired from international football, hence why he hasn't been selected by Italy. Agreed with Paddington about Nasri and Benzema being left out, that does seem strange to me, as does Pato for Brazil.

Argentina squad
Goalkeepers: Sergio Romero (AZ Alkmaar), Mariano Andujar (Catania), Diego Pozo (Colon)

Defenders: Nicolas Burdisso (Inter Milan), Martin Demichelis (Bayern Munich), Walter Samuel (Inter Milan), Gabriel Heinze (Olympique Marseille), Nicolas Otamendi (Velez Sarsfield), Fabricio Coloccini (Newcastle), Juan Manuel Insaurralde (Newell's Old Boys), Clemente Rodriguez (Estudiantes), Ariel Garce (Colon)

Midfielders: Javier Mascherano (Liverpool), Sebastian Blanco (Lanus), Juan Sebastian Veron (Estudiantes), Jesus Datolo (Olympiacos), Jose Sosa (Estudiantes), Maximiliano Rodriguez (Liverpool), Mario Bolatti (Fiorentina), Juan Mercier (Argentinos Juniors), Angel Di Maria (Benfica), Jonas Gutierrez (Newcastle), Javier Pastore (Palermo)

Forwards: Sergio Aguero (Atletico Madrid), Diego Milito (Inter Milan), Martin Palermo (Boca Juniors), Carlos Tevez (Manchester City), Gonzalo Higuain (Real Madrid), Lionel Messi (Barcelona), Ezequiel Lavezzi (Napoli).

No Cambiasso in that group is the biggest shock.

Disappointed that Lyon's Jean-Alain Boumsong didn't get into France's squad.

Sad to see Bikey's been dropped by le Guen. The World Cup will be poorer without his hair-trigger insanity.

The Germany squad is yet to be announced, but we already know it will be without Rene Adler and Kevin Kuranyi. The keeper fractured his ribs in a game a couple of weeks ago, while Kuranyi is suffering from just not being very good.

In fairness he's had a better season than Grafite, as far as I'm aware.

2009– Flamengo 30 (19) - More than a 1 in 2 strike rate. He should be going to be fair.

Grafite's on 11 for 30 games. Not awful, but hasn't quite managed anything this good recently. He seems a harder worker, and big as in muscular rather than just quite fat, so I suppose he's a smoother fit into Dunga's tactical setup.

Dunga likes a pragmatic style of football, not a great surprise that ROnaldinho isn't going.

Maradona on the other hand is bonkers. HIs plan A seems to be let Messi win the cup single handedly. There is no plan B.

Also, where's Mexes in defence?

I read this morning that Nasri is out of favour as he once sat in Henry's seat on the team bus. Apparently, the French old guard (i.e. the World Cup winners) are treated as gods in the squad. You cannot make it up.

Real shame for Mario Balotelli. The boy has immense talent and could easily be amongst the best around if he would just sort out his attitude.

Is Riquelme injured or retired? Either way, he's one I like to watch, shame he won't be there.

Regarding the Dutchies, that's a strong looking group but I thought they might have found a place for Twente's Ronnie Stam.

Stay friends with Maradona = get picked for WC 2010, no matter how limited you might be. Martin Palermo's name is springing to mind as I type this.
