Alan Partridge It does seem to be very true what they say about one transfer leading to another.

This whole thing probably depends on Fred from Lyon.

Let's say all of this on this thread is true.

We want Luke Moore but there is no way Villa will sell him to us to leave themselves short, they want Defoe, but Spurs won't sell for the same reason.

So we are dependent on Fred going to Spurs so then Villa can sign Defoe so then we can sign Moore off Villa, meaning Cox probably then goes to Swindon.[/quo

Which is also why for a club like us any major deals are more likely to take place in the last few days of the transfer window. Whether people like it or not we are a fair way down the food chain when it comes to getting "proven premiership" performers. Even the names that are available Taylor,McFadden, King and Luke Moore we are talking around 5m plus for a fee (which although overpriced isn't necessarily an issue ) and between 30-40k a week in wages and there is little in any of those players (Taylor as a possible exception) that suggests they are whats required to come straight into our first team and help in a relegation fight.

No way would Villa get away with asking 5 million plus for Moore- 3-4 million is what you'd get for him. Theres no way he is on 30-40 grand either, he is not a first team regular.

If he has to leave Villa then he will be looking at around 30k a week in wages , absolutely no doubt. What Villa ask for him will depend entirely on what options they have themselves. Transfer values have nothing to do with a players ability but all to do with what a team is prepared to pay.

If Moore becomes available and theres more than ourselves interested then his figure will rise. The reason Halford cost us so much was because there was other interest in him and we acted to stop them. Something Coppell subsequently regretted. Put it this way, i reckon he will be around the same value as we paid for Halford if we get him.

You're right of course he shouldn't command more than 3m but it just highlights the issues we face if we're trying to get "premiership players" into the club.

Rangers quoted 3.5M

would be a fair price if he scored more goals
but then again he is still youngish

The chain is going to be cut somewhere. If Lyon persist on not allowing then we're not getting him. However in the light of Rangers sniffing around, i can see Moore exchanging the B'gham city centre for Glasgow. Maybe i'm barking mad. No idea.

How about Luke's cousin Dennis?

He practices every day...well, not absolutely every day, but most days in the week
