Ian Royal Just out of interest, how many seasons have Wolves spent in the premier League in the last 15 - 20 years?

Just out of interest, how many times have they finished above us in the last 5 years?

Unfortunately players don't see the " on the pitch" attraction fans do. Flamini leaving arsenal for a worse team sums that up.
They are interested in playing for a glamorised club with massive history, we are neither, wolves are. They are one of the teams that pundits describe " belong in the premiership", we are/were a small club punching above our weight. Thats life.

Totally irrelevant - league position/ tenure does not dictate size of club

As much as it gauls me to say , Wolves are a bigger club than Reading - nothing else to say

How about average attendences?

Wolves' are dropping and badly right now. Ours have plateaued because they can't get any bigger. Oh and by the way they were better than Wolves the last 2 seasons. Massive cLOLub

Players want to go to the teams that have a combination of:
pay the most money
play them regularly in the first team
win trophies/promotions
are liked by the player or in a favoured area.

We are as good a bet as Wolves right now if not better. Their history means not a damn right now because they have established themselves as a top half championship side for the last 15 - 20 years bar the odd blip either way. They are not a club going places.

We have shown phenomenal growth and there is little sign the growth is over yet. We are a very attractive prospect to players right now.

If players want a glamour club with massive history why are they not flocking to Forest?

Just for anyone who doesn't know.

I believe the answers are 1 and 1.

Disclaimer: This does not mean I think Reading are bigger club than Wolves.
It does however mean I do not think Wolves are a much bigger club than Reading.

You don't f*cking say?

Does anyone really think Michael Kightly gives two sh*ts what Wolves' average attendance is? Cut this ridiculous martydom/ inferiority complex out, it's pathetic.

He does. Knightly's bedroom wall is covered in Billy Wright posters and he has a rare video of Wolves FA cup win in 1949.

Would have been true 5 years ago but it's not anymore.

the only reason we'd lose out to those 2 clubs is if they offered said player more money. In terms of clubs to be at, neither Forest or Wolves are better clubs with better prospects than Reading at the current time.

Forest. Lord you are dense, aren't you?

Don't tell me, Michael Kightly picks his teams based on what they were like in the 70s, does he?

Why did Martin Butler choose Reading over Preston?

Massive history, FA cup wins, played in the top division and were higher in the league at the time.

Our Lord on a tandem...most people need to get a grip...

A player 'choosing' a club comes down to money, playing regularly, trophies, location, manager - in that order.

Attendances, history, nice coloured shirts, the most lovable mascot, the newest plastic ground, and the most egotistical chairman have nothing to do with it.

That is far too sensible for this board.

Drew_3
Arnie_Pie 0% chance

depends doesn't it - if prem clubs bid and are accepted then 0%
but
if we are the only ones who bid or are accepted then we have every chance!

Exactly.

He's more likely to start in the Championship so he may want to come here instead of Prem, plus that'd mean we may offer more and even more wages than a Prem team would be willing to pay.

Not 0% at all.

I'd say 3% chance.

Wolves winger Michael Kightly has ended all speculation about his immediate future by signing a new long-term deal.

The 22-year-old missed most of last season through injury but has agreed a four-year contract at Molineux.

Kightly has made a huge impact at Wolves since his move from non-league Grays Athletic in late 2006.

An ankle injury ruined his season in 2007/08 and he had been linked with a move to the Premier League after Wolves failed to win promotion.

Decided he'd rather stay with wolves that wait for a possible move to reading, can't blame the lad.
