Hermann Hreiðarsson, landsliðsfyrirliði í knattspyrnu, er á leið til enska 1. deildarliðsins Reading frá bikarmeisturum Portsmouth, en samkvæmt heimildum mbl.is verður hann kynntur formlega til sögunnar hjá félaginu á mánudaginn.

Lazy journalism.

AlexY25 Is there no way the whole thing can be translated :?

Hermann Hreidarsson, the Icelandic captain, is on his way to english Championship team Reading from FA cup winners Portsmouth, and acourding to http://www.mbl.is this will be announced next monday

Hermann will be the fourth Icelander playing for Reading and will join Ivar Ingimarsson, Brynjar Bjorn Gunnarsson and Gylfi Thor Sigurdsson.

In Reading, Hermann will also meet his former manager that signed him to Crystal Palace from IBV in the summer of 1997, eleven years ago.

Hermann has had few changes to play for Portsmouth this season after playing nearly every game last season and in recent weeks there has been speculation about him moving on.

Reading were relegated from the Premiership last year after two years in the Prem and are currently second in the Championship and are likely to get promoted. The team is fighting for promotion with Wolves and Birmingham.

Hermann has played for six teams in England, Crystal Palace, Brentford, Wimbledon, Ipswich, Charlton og Portsmouth. He has played 297 games in the english Premiership, more than any Icelander, and a total of 440 league games, 66 for Icelandic team ÍBV.

1871royals Dont think we need him unless its a loan.

Bikey cant even get in the team and yesterday didnt even make the bench. We still have Pearce also.

If Armstrong got injured think we would use the "emergency loan."

IMO hes not much better than Bikey, Doobs or Ivar, SC had him at Brentford though which is a plus point.

Maybe this is the ball in motion for Bikey to leave?

Quite possibly. Sell BK for a few million and get a stop gap till the end of the season.

If BK goes though, I will be annoyed.

winchester_royal Excellent if true.

'greed. Very experianced which will be greatly welcomed IMO. Good cover at the back too and can play midfield I seem to recall?

Chuffed with this if true.

But where will we play him? Surely it's cover for Armstrong? Still a lot of money for someone just as cover.

I was just about to post this earlier but didn't have the time to translate it

Personally think this is excellent news, he can play in all defense positions as I recall it, plus maybe midfield. Good cover, think SSC would play him for a bit to give possibly Armostrong a bit of a break, all he wants is a few games at least, not getting anything at all at Pompey. He could prove to be a great squad player in the CCC, and tremendous experience if/when we get into the Prem.

Can you imagine it though, Ivar and him confusing the opposition by talking Icelandic between themselves if they are partnered? I'd like to see that.

Another player that Coppell picked up from obscurity all those years ago, naturally he would have kept an eye on him and his career

Solid addition to the backline if true

He would be an excellent addition to the squad, most likely cover for Armstrong but can play centre back, bags of experience and scores the odd goal too. I hope the deal is completed ASAP.

Playing for Charlton at the moment is definitely an own goal...

To my knowledge, he plays all across the back four, so cover for LB, RB, and CB. Good addition if so, we need some options in case of injuries, and this seems a low risk move (the Coppell way!)

Is this "more than a rumour" now that the thread on the team board with a fairly reputable source has emerged?

Copell seems to go for players he's had previous experience with so it might be true.

Fits in perfectly, slow and has been relegated from the epl with 4 different clubs.

If Bikey leaves then i will not be happy.

Decent move for the rest of the season as Coppell has seen we've got a lack of cover at left back after Kelly and Golborne have not impressed there. With the problems Murty seems to be having getting fit he can also fill in for Rosenoir if needs be as well I guess

A reasonable squad player for a Premiership side maybe too, although as Ivar has shown, it's amazing how quickly your legs can go and how you can get exposed when they do
