SPECULATION - Little to return?

by SteveRoyal » 01 Jul 2009 14:36

I know it's a bit far-fetched, but with Glen Little being released from Portsmouth and our lacking in quality in the wide areas, would it be worth it to have him back? Even as a bench-warmer, we need more experienced heads.

The two times I saw him this year, he looked like he was done.

Somehow, I think that there is more chance of Michael Jackson coming back to life. He offered us very little (sorry) on his loan last season. Can't see The Chosen One going down that road.

Not a chance. Rodgers is looking forward in a modern and progressive way - even if he had anything left to contribute, Little (self-proclaimed funniest man in football) would never fit in with the new ethos.

Love him to pieces, but we'd still be lacking quality if we brought him back. His best days are a long way behind him.

I can reveal Glen Little has already signed for another Championship club that isn't Reading which will come as a surprise to 1 or 2 people when it's announced.

I heard he was getting a trial with Sheffield Utd from Sky Sports. Is that what you mean?

Interesting - on Sky Sports News they have a list of ins & outs for each Premiership club.

In the Portsmouth out list it shows G Little, Reading, Free...

I agree his best days are possibly behind him, but theres no harm in having a look.

When we last went up we signed keef gillespie who had just been rejected by leicester and leeds, and he had a quality season.

I guess he wouldn't be too bad as experienced cover for Henry. I'm not sure he's the sort of player who can make a big impact coming into a game late and I wouldn't really want him starting these days.

He'd need to be a lot fitter than last season. And certainly wouldn't fit into a 4-5-1. Just wouldn't be able to get forward and support the lone striker quick enough.
