URZZZZZZZZ an Adebola type striker would be perfect in my opinion.

An Adebola like striker would be perfect? FFS.

We are a footballing team, we don't want a big lump in the middle who scores once every 4 or 5 games. We want young, hungry, intelligent and improving footballers who are capable of building on the attributes they already have, not some under-achieving has-been / never-really-was.

Anyway, we already have players who score far more frequently than that in Long and NHunt; and in Church, Robson Kanu and Mooney probably have 3 more players who will have better careers than Adebola (and anyone else of a similar ilk).

Totally agree with RR on this. FFS, one league game in and people are crying out for Keith Scott types. No thank you! Roll on Tuesday when hopefully the pups can fill their boots!

I took that as meaning a player who can hold the ball up at the top end of the pitch and bring in his team mates, which Adebola did very well on Saturday. A younger version of that type of striker would, IMO, be a very strong addition to the squad. I don't believe we have that in the squad at the moment and given the way we want to play there is a large onus for the front man to do this to allow the wide men to link up with him.

In that case he's a tad confused as that never has nor ever will describe Adebola - strong front man yes - lethal finisher, hell no.

For big lump, see David Mooney.
For one goal every 4-5 games, see Shane Long.
What an array of choices.

Watford could sell Smith - Russo

Watford chairman Jimmy Russo has not ruled out the possibility of the club selling striker Tommy Smith.

An offer was accepted from Sheffield United last month, but Smith is thought to want to stay locally.

Russo told BBC Three Counties Radio: "If there isn't enough money being generated then the only form we have to revert to is to sell the odd player."

Highly rated striker Tamas Priskin recently left Vicarage Road for Ipswich Town, for an undisclosed fee.

Russo continued: "The problem we have with Tommy is that he is one of the higher earners at the football club. That's been well documented.

"That level of commitment would be financially outside the model that we have introduced for the football club to enable stability and not be calling for another rights issue, as has happened on several occasions in the past few years."

Taken from BBC Sport. Sounds very much like Russo preparing the Hornets fans for an imminent sale at a knock down price.

If Hunt goes ...... doesnt seem to be any real interest in him and I thought the comments Rodgers made the other day were in the hope to get some clubs after him. I think it would be good for him and us if he did go, but I can see him staying on unfortunately.

nothing yet, i haven't spoken to my source in about a week, but still no bids last i heard. No new bid for Smith either. I think it's pretty clear that once Hunt leaves Smith will sign, However the club simply cannot afford both Smith and Hunt on the wage bill at the same time!

So, with tonight's developments, when can we expect some movement in the Tommy Smith saga?

Should think so if you make an offer over 1.2 million or so.
