Smith is expected to be handed a three-year deal at Madejski Stadium and could take the vacant squad number 11 following Stephen Hunt's departure.

Good stuff. I think everyone just wants this over and done with. Rodgers said he wanted to bring in 2 more players in before the end of the week. I haven't seen us linked with anyone else?

You realise WR that, if that's true, then it's the first bit of "new" news for about 30-odd pages of this thread.... and that this update alone should keep us going for another ten pages or more.

Still, I'm sure Tommy Smith will be a good signing - I remember him from his Liverpool days (more of a tough-tackling defender then, of course)....

Has he passed the medical yet?

Do we know what his squad number will be and the length of the contract?

I really hope SSN have got this wrong:

Smith, who worked with Reading boss Brendan Rodgers during his time in the Vicarage Road hot-seat, is now expected to finalise his move in the next few days.

Next few days? WTF. Does this mean we can have another 20 pages of bollox?

His 5th today.
