parky Smith was due to be unveiled as a Royals player this afternoon - indeed, the Watford Observer understands a press conference had been called and the media were already assembled, only for officials to be left red faced when Smith failed to show.

Thats embarassing

Rumour has it he was asked to do this by watford to get revenge on RFC, great move!!!!!!

FFS, you'd believe anything, or make anything up!

It's kind of funny if I'm honest, the clubs management are reaping what they have sown.

Too tight, complete lack of skill in the Smith negotiations, and our so called saviour isn't coming !

Wonder if they will now realise we need a few more players with experience to steadythis ship.

Well done to all at RFC for once again royally screwing things up.... That's if Smith does go to One Song.

Whole affair is embarassing!

We pull out of the move, and only because the fans turned on the chairman did we decided to match the fee, then we get Smith through a medical and over 24 hours passes and we still don't secure his signature!! Utter joke.

Tommy Smith wont make or break our season, but who the f**K do we look at now?

There you go taking the Watford chairmans word for it again

SDR spot on as usual. Said three days ago that pompey were in for Smith. Obviously Hammond and co is not in tune with the main man. He's too involved licking the Madman's ****.

Real Facts from the Main Man. You know SDR is always rightttttttttttttttt

But he really, really, really wanted to come here! Brendan told us so!

All things considered this hasnt been a great start to his reign and a big change in attitude will be needed in all future dealings. I don't want to judge the man so early on but there is more than a hint of "all mouth, no action" about the man. Those months spent sucking up to Mourinho seem to have realy rubbed off on him.

What do you mean once again?

Thought it was pretty self explanitory.

We f*ck around trying to sign Smith on the cheap, leaving the door wide open for Pompey to nip in with an offer.

Hence, we are reaping what we sow !

Not hard really was it ?

In the space of 3 months this club has gone from being highly respected throughout the football community to a complete laughing stock. This is not good enough. If FL Snr is a football consultant then he should be adivising his protege. Squeaky also needs to stand up and take a kicking for not providing the proper "direction". This whole sorry episode is pathetic.

Are we still allowed to boo Tommy Smith the next time we play against Pompey? I know he was never actually a Reading player but the deal seemed so close that I still think he should count as a jumping ship Judas.
