Not the player we needed. No different to what we currently have. He's not the 'creative' midfielder that some on here think he is. Bog standard box-to-box.

i'm sure someone posted up his goals to games ratio which suggests otherwise. very impressive for ipswich, they were eager to keep him, but yeah, sure brian howard and jay tabb are equally as good.

Goals =/= creative

36 in 292 isn't that good a ratio anyway.

Decent player don't get me wrong, but I don't think he'd have offered much more than our current lot.

signed until end of the season for nominal fee. he was apparently loaned to ipswich against his wishes and felt had to get away from blackburn.

Shame, always going to choose a prem club over a championship club.

Platypuss Would be a great signing - not too old and proven to be very good at this level.

Hell yeah. Love to see him alongside Ledge, Karacan or Tabb. In that order.

What we need is goal threat through the middle. Whether that's a through ball assist machine or someone who can chip in with a decent number of goals it doesn't matter in the slightest. Someone who can also put their foot in. A Sidwell, which Andrews seems to be like, would be absolutely dandy thank you.

Well he and Bridge were the two we were looking to bring in and would have done had it not been for PL interest.

w're still keeping tabs on Andrews.

I think people need to realise we can't compete for someone like Gylfi now, and we will still look for quality at a bargain price if we can get it before spending a substantial amount on anyone.

Didn't realise he was only on a short term deal at West Brom.

Would certainly take him over Mullins as another defensive midfield option next season.

Isn't he more attacking?

Genuine question, I am not 100% sure.

He's a good old fashioned box to box CM with a genuine goal threat, I see him as a bit of a poor mans Sidwell but in fairness to him that's probably not doing him justice.

I'd agree he's more of a bog standard midfielder than someone who just sits or is a genuine 'attacking midfielder'.

He's chipped in with enough goals throughout his career but I'd liken him more to Karacan, just stronger and generally better on the ball, and Legiertwood than any of our other midfielders, hence referring to him as a defensive option instead of a Sigurdsson type creative player.

He's no David Batty or Nicky Butt though, so perhaps it was a misleading tag to give him
