Nicky Shorey

Not seen him been linked. But, does not seem to get a game at WBA anymore, still do a job and coming home might re-create that form he showed to get an England cap.. Would not be too costly either..

No thanks, became Billy Big Bollocks and has done very little since. Whenever I've seen him on MOTD he's been no more than mediocre. A past favourite who showed us little respect at the end and is on the decline.

My response was the same as yours Ian, showed us little respect towards the end.

I can't see this happening, and wouldn't want it to either. Shorey left here under a very large cloud.

We shouldn't be looking to reassemble the old crowd. We need to sign new, hungry players with regular playing experience.

LoyalRoyal22 ... does not seem to get a game at WBA anymore...

That should put an end to the thread right there.

Not really, that does not make him a bad player. We all know he is a quality footballer, fresh start needed

But somewhere else. Would not be surprised to see him at West Ham next season. After all, he has experience of fitness tests down there.

First and foremost, a LB needs to defend. That is why Shorey is the best left back I have seen at the club. Bertrand was ok defensively but he was nowhere near as good as Shorey.

A big NO THANK YOU from me. He couldn't give a toss the season we went down. He was half arsed and in a strop because we wouldn't let him go the summer previous. He was part of the dressing room unrest and played a huge part in our relegation.

No no no!

This.

He's another one who has hardly set the footballing world on fire since leaving us for Villa. Didn't cut it there. Then went to Fulham. Bit meh there. Now at WBA.

I don't blame players for going for more money a la Doyle and Long - and also when WE sell them, rather than them wanting to go - but Shorey, although fantastic for us, is older now and we need younger, hungrier players who aren't motivated purely for the money thing. IMO.

Would be worth having him back simply to watch as Woodcote spontaneously combusts!!

A big "Thanks for the memories Nicky, but no thanks" from me I'm afraid...

Is his dad still at the club? I thought he said he would love to return to Reading one day, when he left?

Don't see why you would want players back that did one when you got relegated. Much the same with Doyle.
