Extended-Phenotype I like him.

He got no goals and no assists last season because Liverpool are a sore shit of a team.

And the penalties he missed?

Saaaaaaaammmmmm Think I heard somewhere he created the most chances in the Prem last season or something with 55, just no one at Liverpool could finish them off.

I agree, that Suarez bloke is rubbish.

Ian Royal
southbank1871 People sl8 Downing and he was pretty useless last season, but at both Boro and Villa he was very effective.

I think he's really good and would be astonished if we sign a current England International.

Indeed. He had a poor season at Liverpool but didn't everyone - Kenny Dalglish was his manager so there is a decent excuse.

If he came to Reading he would, almost certainly, be the best player ever to play for the club.

But it's all bollox I'm sure.

Its been a long time since I last saw Downing show that he is a better winger than McAnuff. Thats not to say he wouldn't be a great signing, but its a big price to pay for someone who has looked extremely average this last year.

He's a good crosser but his decision making isn't brilliant and often fails to beat the man. In our sort of team, I reckon he'd work well as a distraction.

I'm not sure you heard that right.

I think he made the most crosses not chances.

This is the same McAnuff that most of this forum were slating for the first half of the season and we were told didn't put enough in, was interested etc etc?

Not that I think those views were right of course, I'm quite a McAnuff fan, but he's not been that outstanding in the Championship that I'd say Downing hasn't been better than him.

Think Gylfi would be better in our history. He's not top 4 Prem material really, but he's an excellent player who's under-rated because he's had a poor seasons and plays for England but isn't a world beater.

I also think he's that rare sort of winger that doesn't blow hot and cold too much, but is a fairly consistent performer. Even if a lot of other wingers will reach a higher level of performance on form, he'll be consistently better than most over a season.

Then again I pay very little attention to the Prem and this is just gut instinct.

We'll need somebody to provide the crosses for The Pog, that's fo' shizzle.
