sounds like we are in the market but at a price range of 3-3.5 million, Rumoured bids of 3 million plus add ons for Rhodes and Zaha may highlight this.

Marseille striker Jordan Ayew is likely to remain in France after the club indicated they would not let the player join Reading on a season-long loan deal

Of course they would turn it down. Isn't he out of contract at season end?!

He's only 20 years old so he can't leave for nothing but a tribunal would probably value him less than £5M

It's being widely reported in the French press that Ayew's going on a seeason long loan to Nice. Hope this doesn't turn out to be a missed opportunity

A bit like we 'missed out' on Messi, Ronaldo, Hazard etc?

Oh, and just because the rumours on here mention a name and link it to us doesn't mean the club is actually looking, you do realise that don't you?

We were linked quite a bit actually, so it's fair to say there was at least an enquiry... just alot less publicised due to it being a foreign club...

Yes I did realise that WSM but thanks for pointing it out all the same. Believe it or not, I don't buy-in to the truth of a rumour because of what I read "on here", rather I'm inclined to believe it based on the news reports I read and the credibility of the sources. The RFC-Ayew link has been widely reported in the British and French media by papers I consider more reliable and credible (The Times here and L'Equipe in France) than say The Sun or a random twitter account. So no, it's not "a bit like we 'missed out' on Messi, Ronaldo, Hazard etc", but nice try.

Touching naivity, but certainly the english papers tend to follow what gets raised on forums and twitter. See the @FootballAgent thread.

Rightly or wrongly, I'd like to think that The TImes wouldn't be using twitter or a forum as their source, plus they were the first to report the story.

Wrngly, I'm afraid.

Mini-Franchise 2 is at school with the son of a Times sports reporter. We've talked about how they get the start of a story and they trawl all the twitter/forums and follow up from there.

Incredibly, and I know it'll be a shock to some, they do sometimes make up things to fill column inches.

Apparently, and I can only go on what he tells us, the 'quotes' make a story more believable, but are no more real in some cases than the basis of the story.

i would have loved for this all to be true and for us to have signed him. he is quality and this would have been the lowest price anyone would ever get him for. same with jordan rhodes his price will be double by this time next season.

Jordan Rhodes will not be worth £16 million at any point in his career HTH
