Hobartian He really struggled in what is a very mediocre league, with a couple of exceptions most of the teams in Australia would struggle in League 2. There is a reason that Melbourne Victory let him go.
Sad that I am saying this about an Australian great, but no.

An Australian? there is more than 2 Australian* fans?

Well its not really a bad shout when you think of some of the wingers who have played for us .. e.g. Oster granted he would be a bit slower with age of course but the technical ability he had will still be there.

Does leaving Britain at the age of 2 make me an expat or Australian?

Pay as you play - would cost nothing.

Too divisive, too old, and just a bit not very bright.

Surely worth a punt IF our form continues.

All his family live oop north - what would be the attraction in him moving down here to potentially recieve 5-10 (50kish?) pay cheques When he's had 10 years on probably 90k a week?

Probably when he is getting £0 now? He seems to have a habit of making Michael Owen look fit and healthy so i would probably say no on that basis.

I don't mean to keep being negative to BrasingstokeRoyal's comments :? but the question seems to be with some of these players attitude. When you see some of the players still available, you have to question if they have really made enough money to stop earning a living wage? If they have, and they can't be arsed then their attitude is all wrong and we should not want them. If they are waiting in the simple belief that someone big will come in for them, then again their attitude is wrong. What you want are players that will offer themselves as free trialists to prove they deserve a contract and still have it, but then I guess we won't know if any of them have approached the club. After all, as someone else said, Brian said we got all the summer targets we wanted.

Name one previously 'big-time' player that's ever done this...?

To be honest i don't know one. However, after years of Premier League clubs paying stupid wages to players, we have now reached a point where it was no longer affordable for some clubs and so there are some quite good players available on frees. If you wish to continue playing, and no one is coming in for you then surely at some point you have to get off your bum and do something to generate interest in yourself? Otherwise, as you so accurately point out, an unemployed footballer just becomes unemployed.
