Ian Royal £60k a week - I would not be happy with that, I don't care how good someone is, I don't want to see us playing the stupid wage chasing game and just throwing money at big name signings in the hope we can get into Europe once in a blue moon and just forgetting about the possibility of relegation.

It's paper talk. The same papers said Pog was on 60k as well, and he's on about 38k.

Conversation at work.

Me: "There's talk of us buying Arshavin"
Baggies mate; "He'd do a job for you"
Arsenal mate; "No way. He's dreadfully unfit. Once down the wing and he's blowing out of his a*se".

So. Uncertain motivation, unfit and vastly expensive wages.

Why would we?

He's already saving for the move anyway with his McDonalds vouchers.

Well, that's it confirmed then. He is obviously aware that the McDonalds adjacent to the stadium has a drive-thru (gotta love Yank illiteracy!) so there will be plenty of scope for him to collect more.

Honestly, that'd be a better move for him, but he has said that he wants to play in England.

Can't see this happening. If other teams go in for him, which they will, we will be further down the pecking order due to our league position.

Would be good if a deal could be sorted but honestly, don't hold your breath.

We've got one surley faced Russian non-trier. We don't need another one.

Harsh I know but I don't think either of them would/do fit in. I'm hoping that Anton has learned his lesson.

It depends where we play him. It wont matter quite so much if he is lazy when playing behind a striker. He looks lazier than he is when playing on the wing which was never his best position because he is not good at tracking back

Smertin and Zhirkov won Premiership winners medals with Chelsea and I would have called Pavyluchenko reasonably successful.

Think Smertin did pretty well on loan at Pompey

that isnt the point i was posing  i simply said there arent many succesful ones

but theres certainly more than 2
including smertin, zhirkov and pavlyachenko(135 games & nearly half as sub then flogged(ok he did score 50 odd goals :D )
pogrebnyak, arshavin, Bilyaletdinov,Shevchenko. a massive majority, when you assess them purely according to my own personal success criteria
