RockheadRumple Hardly played out of position; he's in the middle of the front three in a 4-2-3-1. Why is no-one admitting that he's just off form or not quite Champions League quality yet? It's not Tottenham's fault.

No, they usually play him on the left of the 4-2-3-1, he looks lost out there becauase he hardly has the pace to beat anyone

Until very recently, that was Gareth Bale's role. For most of the season Sigurdsson has been in the middle. Only with the arrival of Holtby has he become something of a substitute winger.

Not forgetting that Sigurdsson broke into our side on the left and looked pretty great.

When ever I have seen him play for tottenham, which is a few times as I have looked out to see how he has done he has played mainly on the left. Obvs that is Bale's position but because Sig is not a starter, he has played there when they have rested bale or when he has been injured. Dempsey has almost always been the first choice in the middle.

With all respect to his achievements with us that was in the championship and I don't think he could play left wing for any club in this league

He looked decent enough on the wing but the whole team was a bit shit at the time he did play there.

*sigh* where could we be if we'd had money to back up buying some tippy tappy footballers back then.

Rodgers spent enough at the time if you're talking about then. £2m Mills, £800k McAnuff, £800k Howard, £300k Cummings, £300k Rasiak iirc.

But I'm drawling at the idea that TSI came in two years earlier and playing with Sig in the hole behind Long last year and this.

1m for Mills. The rest was based on promotion and add-ons.

Not 100% about Howard but Wiki says £500k and TransferMarket says £575k - http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/readi ... lle_a.html

Jobi and Howard may have been £500k, I couldn't recall. I don't give a rat's arse what we actually paid on Mills, £2m was the headline figure and any other fee for any other player could have similar - some upfront some on other add ons.

Maybe because he's desperate for attention?

Gylfi getting absolutely slaughtered on twitter by Spurs supporters. Guess he's not well liked there then. A wrong move gone even more wrong. Hope he realises this in the summer.

Not at the Swans anymore either, they have their Michu now.

Only one place for him now.

The problem I have seen with him at Spurs is, he is trying too hard with the little time that he has on the pitch.

Players who are good for Reading, should never, ever leave Reading.

It's like Superman losing his powers. Without Reading, they are just blokes standing around in gay looking leotards.

This. Gylfi only seems to be coming on in the later stages when the game is getting frantic. This doesn't suit his style at all.
Spurs would be better off starting with him as attacking central midfielder and bringing on Dempsey for the later stages if necessary.
Admittedly they have probably now both been overtaken by Holtby.

Holtby has now played 5 games for Spurs as an attacking midfielder with 0 goals and 0 assists.

Can someone please make this thread go away? Unless we can amazingly come up with 15 points from the final 33, we are down and this move will never happen.

Brian Howard is free in the summer though.
