Speculation- No.10 Signing

by Unbelievable Jeff » 15 May 2013 21:07

Who would you guys like to see us bring in for the number 10 role next season.
Although now we have Robson-Kanu, McCleary and McAnuff playing in the attacking three, I still think we need to sign a creative forward.

My choices would be Jon Williams, Although very unlikely, not impossible. If palace don't go up this season I can not see them picking themselves back up for next. I think even if we had the slightest of chances to sign this lad we should splash the money on him, up and coming international player with a very bright future.

Lewis MCGugan- Could be leaving on a free. Not the complete package but would take him to add a bit of quality and depth.

Ben Marshall- Dropped out of the Leicester team recently. Was being used as a winger for them but with the glimpses of quality he has shown when I have seen him play, there is no doubt he can be a quality No.10 for us.

Williams is being chased by all the big guns we would need big big money to get him but mcgugan seems a good option already knows Gunter n McCleary.

I would hope were looking at someone like Mcgugan, Marshall maybe barnes from Brighton?

I think this will be the most important signing for us over the summer. We don't have anyone to play that role (haven't since Gylfi left), but 4 wingers in whom I'm confident can perform in the Championship. Jobi doesn't carry the goal threat nor the passing ability to play there. Some people have suggested HRK, but think he is more problematic when cutting inside from a wide position rather than being sat in the middle the whole time.

As for suggestions, Jordi Gomez from Wigan maybe? Or perhaps someone on loan from a top PL team?

One thing is for sure, our actual Number 10 won't be Noel Hunt anymore.

Nobody really stands out as a candidate, perhaps Dorrans from WBA, but I wouldn't be surprised to see us dip into the European market to fill this position

Dorrans would be great however quite unlikely. A bit pessimistic about the European market. Although it is extremely exiting looking for players from Europe it can either be a massive hit ( Michu ) or a huge disappointment ( Carrico )

I wouldn't say Carricos been a huge disappointment as the combined 70 minutes he's played it total he was good for 25! But I think he could be a good player next season if he plays!

I thought the whole reason signing Carrico was to fill that 'Creative Midfield' position, no?

No, he was meant to replace Leigertwood in defensive midfield.

How would a centreback come defensive midfielder do that?

No way we sign Williams. McGugan on his way to Cardiff apparently.

+1. Contracted to 2015 though so wouldn't be that cheap for any team that wants him "we don't need to sell".

Too soon to chuck him in the first team shirley?

Guess we will never know until we try.

This signing is vital, if we make it. We so desperately need a real playmaker.
