Simeon Jackson

Has just been released from Norwich. Saw some rumblings on Twatter last night that some people would like him at Reading. Me personally - no thanks.

I'm really bored, hence why I'm posting this, feel free to dodd/abuse/shun/whatever.

Jackson had a purple patch for Norwich the season they went up from the chump scoring nine in nine games at the business end of the season.

However, with Hughton usually playing one man up front (Holt) he never really got a chance to kick on in the Prem and was sparingly used.

Tbh he's always impressed me when I've seen him play, nippy, eye for a goal, etc.

But the bottom line is that he would end up being used as a sub and we already have a player like that (Le Fondre) who is arguably better than Jackson in any case. In other words, non starter unless we get rid of ALF.

I'd rather Ebanks-Blake, but I'd take Jackson in the Championship.

I'd sign him and get him taking all the set-pieces, if only for the "Jackson's corner..." headline opportunities.

Wait, you'd rather have a player released from a team which didn't score enough to stay in the Champ, compared to a player who has just been released from a PL team?

What's that got to do with anything? SEB is a very good Championship striker. Also being released from a Premier League team doesn't make you a good player - does it Simon Church...?

Can't say that I agree. 15 goals this season is his best since 08/09, which isnt great. Then again, Jackson's 17 in 72 games is also a pretty poor record.

Let's just steer clear of them both, eh.

Saw him play for Rushden & Diamonds in the Conference a few years ago and could tell he was way to good for that level, so I was delighted to see him work his way up the ladder.

Decent lad, available on a free, PL experience, we need a striker or two... why not?

I remember watching him on the telly for Gillingham vs. Aston Villa in the cup a few years back and he was the oustanding player. Would be very happy with this.-

kerry Dixon didn't do too badly after he left a club that had just been relegated. SEB is quality but is he fit enough?

You're basing your experience on watching him a few years back? Excellent. I hear that Harry Kewell's available - he looked great a few years back. And what about resigning Kevin Doyle - he was good a few years back too.

A serious amount of :| at some posters on here.

No, I just find it very difficult to believe that someone would advocate signing a player who they saw once, on tv, several years ago, for a previous club. That would be like someone signing Stephen Hunt because they saw him play well for Reading once.

I was just sharing something I know about Simeon Jackson. I didn't say sign him purely because I saw him once. I said I saw him once and he was quite good. From all accounts he's a good player. We need some forwards.

Yes, we do need forwards. Not sure I can agree about him being a good player though - his record (as mentioned above) isn't great.

Yes I saw him in the flesh a few years back, and made an assumption about him going on to be a good player. I then kept close tabs on him while he was at Gillingham and Norwich and it turned out my assumption proved to be correct. I then decided to share that fact on this forum. You sir, then missed my point completely about how he has become (now, the present tense) a decent player.

More to the point, last time I checked I wasn't in charge of our transfer policy, so I don't understand why you're getting a tad upset about what I think in regards to signings.

:| back at you.
